Guillermo del Toro revealed in a recent interview with Indiewire that Alexandre Desplat is set to compose the music for the director’s upcoming fantasy drama The Shape of Water. The film stars Sally Hawkins, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Doug Jones, Michael Stuhlbarg and Octavia Spencer. The movie is described as an other-worldly story, set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1963. Premiering tomorrow, December 26, is the HBO original documentary Every Brilliant Thing directed by Fenton Bailey & Randy Barbato and executive produced by Jean Doumanian, Patrick Daly and Sheila Nevins. The film’s original music is composed by David Benjamin Steinberg (Mapplethorpe: Look at the Pictures). The movie is based on Jonny Donahoe’s and Duncan Macmillan’s play and follows Donahoe as he thoughtfully guides the audience through all of the brilliant things the world has to offer. Harry Escott is scoring the upcoming British thriller Dark River. The film is written and directed by Clio Barnard and stars Ruth Wilson, Sean Bean and Mark Stanley. The movie follows a woman who returns to her home village for the first time time in 15 years after the death of her father, to claim the tenancy to the family farm she believes is rightfully hers. Tracy O’Riordan is producing the Film4, Left Bank Pictures and Moonspun Films production. ‘The Empty Chair’ from ‘Jim: The James Foley Story’ to Be Released

Republic Records will release the original song The Empty Chair from the documentary Jim: The James Foley Story. The track is written by Academy Award nominee J. Ralph (Lucky Number Slevin, The Cove, Chasing Ice) and Sting who also performs the song, which will be released tomorrow as a digital single and is now available to download on Amazon. Jim: The James Foley Story is directed by Brian Oakes and centers on the life and work of American journalist James Foley, who was killed by ISIS terrorists in 2014.
