carter-burwellCarter Burwell is set to reteam with director Todd Haynes on the upcoming drama Wonderstruck. The film starring Julianne Moore, Michelle Williams, Oaks Fegley, Cory Michael Smith and Tom Noonan is based on a children’s book by Brian Selznick and traces the gradually weaving stories, set 50 years apart, of two deaf children who both wish their lives had been different: one dreams of a mysterious actress, and the other of the father he has never known. Christine Vachon (Far from Heaven, Boys Don’t Cry, One Hour Photo) is producing the project for Killer Films alongside Pam Koffler (Still Alice) and John Sloss (Boyhood, I’m Not There). The show is developed by Max Landis (ChronicleAmerican Ultra) and stars Samuel Barnett, Elijah Wood, Hannah Marks, Jade Eshete, Mpho Koaho, Fiona Dourif, Michael Eklund, Miguel Sandoval, Dustin Milligan, Aaron Douglas, Neil Brown Jr. and Richard Schiff. The comedic thriller is based on Douglas Adams’ novel of the same name and follows the bizarre adventures of eccentric “holistic” detective Dirk Gently and his reluctant assistant Todd, as they wend their way through one big, seemingly insane mystery. better-late-than-neverPremiering on Tuesday, August 23, is the new NBC reality series Better Late Than Never executive produced by Henry Winkler, Craig Zadan & Neil Meron, Jason Ehrlich, Stephanie Chambers, Alex Katz and Tim Crescenti. The show’s original music is composed by David Schwartz (Arrested Development, Northern Exposure, Lady Dynamite). The series follows Winkler, William Shatner, Terry Bradshaw, George Foreman and Jeff Dye as they travel to Tokyo, Kyoto, Seoul, Hong Kong, Phuket and Chiang Mai. gomorrahPremiering in the U.S. on Wednesday, August 24, is the Italian crime drama series Gomorrah developed by Giovanni Bianconi, Stefano Bises, Leonardo Fasoli, Ludovica Rampoldi & Roberto Saviano inspired by Matteo Garrone’s 2008 feature film and starring Marco D’Amore and Fortunato Cerlino. Mokadelic has composed the show’s original music. Goodfellas Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the music from the drama. The film is written and directed by Katherine Dieckmann (Motherhood, Diggers) and stars Holly Hunter, Carrie Coon and Kim Coates. The movie follows a grieving mother who travels the backroads of the Deep South to settle a score. Jana Edelbaum & Rachel Cohen (The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and PeteThe Answer ManDirty Girl) are producing the drama. The album features the film’s original music composed by Guster lead singer Ryan Miller (Safety Not GuaranteedIn a World…The Kings of Summer). Also included is the composer’s original song This Is the Only Time We Have. The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 9, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. The Fundamentals of Caring is written and directed by Rob Burnett and stars Paul Rudd, Selena Gomez, Jennifer Ehle, Bobby Cannavale and Craig Roberts. The film’s original music is composed by Dario Marianelli (AtonementThe BoxtrollsPride and PrejudiceV for Vendetta) has composed the film’s original music. Warner Bros. war-dogsAlso opening wide is the action comedy War Dogs directed by Todd Phillips and starring Jonah Hill, Miles Teller, Ana de Armas and Bradley Cooper. Cliff Martinez (DriveContagionTrafficThe Neon DemonThe Lincoln Lawyer) has composed the film’s original score. No word on a soundtrack album. War Dogs follows two friends in their early 20s during the Iraq War who exploit a little-known government initiative that allows small businesses to bid on U.S. Military contracts. chris-baconChris Bacon has revealed in a recent interview with TV Goodness that he is currently scoring the upcoming ABC mini-series When We Rise. The show is created by Dustin Lance Black (Milk, J. Edgar) and stars Guy Pearce, Mary Louise Parker, Rosie O’Donnell, Michael K. Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, Rachel Griffiths, Dylan Walsh, Kevin McHale and Ivory Aquino. The period drama tells the history of the gay rights movement, starting with the Stonewall Riots in 1969. Black is also executive producing the ABC Studios production with Larry Mark (Jerry Maguire, I, Robot) and Bruce Cohen (American Beauty, Silver Linings Playbook, Big Fish). brotherhoodBlack Butter will release a soundtrack album for Noel Clarke’s drama Brotherhood. The album features the songs form the movie by Fekky feat. Giggs, Chloe Leone, Jamie Joseph, Grace Acladna, J Hus, Whinnie Williams, Mahalia, Asher D, Chip x Maniac & more. The soundtrack will be released in the UK on August 26, 2016 and is now available for pre-order as an import on Amazon. Brotherhood is written and directed by Clarke who also stars in the film alongside Jason Maza, Stormzy, Red Madrell, Shanika Warren-Markland and Arnold Oceng. The movie is set a decade after the events from Adulthood and follows Sam Peel who has grown up and is in a stable relationship with his lawyer girlfriend Kayla, when his past comes back to haunt him.
