Lionsgate has published a video featurette on the music for Damien Chazelle’s movie musical La La Land. The video features interviews with the director and composer Justin Hurwitz who talk about their collaboration and their work on the project, as well as footage from the orchestral score’s recording sessions. Lin-Manuel Miranda to Compose Music & Write Songs for ‘The Kingkiller Chronicle’ Film & TV Adaptations

Lionsgate announced today that Lin-Manuel Miranda will serve as a creative producer and musical mastermind on the feature film and television series adaptations of Pat Rothfuss’ best-selling franchise book trilogy The Kingkiller Chronicle. He is expected to compose the original music and write the songs for both projects. The studio is simultaneously developing and producing the feature film franchise and a TV drama series that expands on the world outside of the books. Lindsey Beer (Transformers: The Last Knight) is currently writing the screenplay for the first movie based on the first book, The Name of the Wind. Netflix’s ‘Trollhunters’ to Feature Music by Alexandre Desplat & Tim Davies

Alexandre Desplat has written the main titles music, as well as the main character’s theme for DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming Netflix original series Trollhunters. The show’s score is composed by Tim Davies. Both composers received an Annie Award nomination for their work yesterday. The series is created by Guillermo del Toro and features the voices of Anton Yelchin, Kelsey Grammer, Ron Perlman, Charlie Saxton, Steven Yeun, Jonathan Hyde, Lexi Medrano, Amy Landecker and Fred Tatasciore. The show follows a 15-year old teenager who stumbles upon a Magical Amulet that gives him the title of Trollhunter, defender of the trolls that live below the human town of Arcadia. ‘Return to the Blue Lagoon’ Soundtrack Announced

Intrada Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1991 romantic adventure drama Return to the Blue Lagoon directed by William A. Graham and starring Brian Krause & Milla Jovovich. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Basil Poledouris (RoboCop, Starship Troopers, Conan the Barbarian, The Hunt for Red October, For the Love of the Game). Also included is the end titles song A World of Our Own performed by SURFACE, as well as alternate, additional and source cues. Imagine Dragon’s ‘Levitate’ from ‘Passengers’ to Be Released

Sony Pictures announced today that Imagine Dragons have contributed an original song for the sci-fi drama Passengers. The track, entitled Levitate, will be released as a digital single, this Friday, December 2 by Interscope Records. Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack release for Paramount Pictures’ 1991 family comedy All I Want for Christmas directed by Robert Lieberman and starring Harley Jane Kozak, Jamey Sheridan, Ethan Randall, Thora Birch, Kevin Nealon, Lauren Bacall, Leslie Nielsen . The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Academy Award nominee Bruce Broughton (Silverado, Rescuers Down Under, Young Sherlock Holmes, Miracle on 34th Street, Lost in Space). Only six cues of the composer’s score have previously been released on the original 1991 soundtrack album. The album features the film’s original music composed by Craig Richey (Friends with Money, Lovely & Amazing, The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters). No Pay, Nudity is directed by Lee Wilkof and stars Gabriel Byrne, Nathan Lane, Frances Conroy and Donna Murphy. Back Lot Music will release a score album for Illumination Entertainment’s animated feature Sing. The album features the film’s original score composed by Joby Talbot (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Penelope, Closed Circuit, Son of Rambow). The soundtrack will be released on December 16, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Steve Moore has recently composed the music for the upcoming indie action thriller Mayhem. The film is directed by Joe Lynch (Everly, Knights of Badassdom) and stars Steven Yeun, Samara Weaving, Steven Brand, Caroline Chikezie and Kerry Fox. The movie tells the story of a virus that infects a corporate law office on the day one of their attorneys is framed by a co-worker and wrongfully fired. Matias Caruso wrote the screenplay.
