Drawing Number One has released a soundtrack album for the HBO documentary King in the Wilderness. The album features the film’s original music composed by Saul Simon MacWilliams (Gleason, Chasing Coral, Jim: The James Foley Story, The China Hustle). Dan Romer (Beasts of the Southern Wild, The Good Doctor) served as the project’s music director. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. King in the Wilderness is directed by Peter Kunhardt and chronicles the final chapters of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life, revealing a conflicted leader who faced an onslaught of criticism from both sides of the political spectrum. Craig Armstrong has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming drama Mrs. Lowry and Son. The film is directed by Adrian Noble (The Importance of Being Earnest, A Midsummer Night’s Dream) and stars Timothy Spall and Vanessa Redgrave. The movie examines the relationship between British painter L.S. Lowry, who was famous for painting scenes of life in the industrial districts of North West England in the mid-20th century and his mother, Elizabeth. Ipecac Recordings will release a soundtrack album for the Netflix original movie 1922. The album features the film’s original music composed by Faith No More lead singer Mike Patton (The Place Beyond the Pines, Crank: High Voltage). The soundtrack will be released on July 20, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A first track from the score is already available to download here. 1922 is directed by Zak Hilditch and stars Thomas Jane, Molly Parker, Dylan Schmid, Kaitlyn Bernard, Brian d’Arcy and Neal McDonough. The movie is based on the novella by Stephen King and follows a farmer who pens a confession admitting to his wife’s murder, but her death is just the beginning of a macabre tale. Premiering in the U.S. tonight is the British mini-series Little Women written by Heidi Thomas based on Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel, directed by Vanessa Caswill and starring Maya Hawke, Kathryn Newton, Annes Elwy, Willa Fitzgerald, Emily Watson, Dylan Baker, Angela Lansbury, Michael Gambon and Jonah Hauer-King. The 3-parter’s original score is composed by Stuart Earl (Lilting, My Brother the Devil, And Then There Were None). The drama premiered in the UK last year on BBC One and makes its domestic debut as part of PBS’ Masterpiece series. Click here for more information.
Also premiering tonight is the Lifetime original movie Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance directed by Menhaj Huda and starring Murray Fraser & Parisa Fitz-Henley in the title roles, as well as Bonnie Soper as Princess Diana, Steve Coulter as Prince Charles, Maggie Sullivun as Queen Elizabeth II and Deborah Ramsay as Camilla Bowles. Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the comedy Life of the Party directed by Ben Falcone and starring Melissa McCarthy, Gillian Jacobs, Maya Rudolph, Julie Bowen, Matt Walsh, Molly Gordon, Stephen Root and Jacki Weaver. The film’s original score is composed by Fil Eisler (Empire, Revenge, How to Be Single, CHiPs). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as songs by Meghan Trainor, Blind Scuba Divers, Chick Norris, Cyndi Lauper & more. Also opening wide is the thriller Breaking In directed by James McTeigue and starring Gabrielle Union, Billy Burke, Richard Cabral, Seth Karr, Ajiona Alexus, Levi Meaden, Jason George and Christa Miller.
