infernoThe only movie opening nationwide this weekend is the thriller Inferno directed by Ron Howard and starring Tom Hanks, Felicity Jones, Irrfan Khan, Omar Sy, Ben Foster and Sidse Babett Knudsen. The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Gladiator, The Lion King, Inception, Rain Man, Black Hawk Down). gimme-dangerOpening in limited release is the documentary Gimme Danger directed by Jim Jarmusch about the rock-n-roll band The Stooges. The movie doesn’t feature any original score and no soundtrack album has been released. The film recounts the hard-rocking history of Iggy Pop and The Stooges, who burst out of Michigan in the late ’60s with a savage and endlessly influential fusion of rock, blues, R&B, and free jazz. The film is written and directed by Roger Goldby (The Waiting Room) and stars Joan Collins, Pauline Collins and Franco Nero. Academy Award-winning songwriter Tim Rice (The Lion King, Aladdin, Evita) will be providing an original song and also serves as an executive producer on the project. The movie follows a former Hollywood star who is on her way to crash her ex-husband’s funeral with a friend and becomes involved in a romantic triangle with a reclusive Italian painter. The album features selections of the original score fm the show’s first two seasons composed by Jeremy Zuckerman (The Legend of Korra, Avatar: The Last Airbender). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio clips. Columbia and Island Records have previously released two soundtracks featuring songs from the series.
