The show is created by Tom Perrotta (The Leftovers) based on his bestselling novel of the same title and stars Kathryn Hahn, Jackson White, Owen Teague, Katie Kershaw, Domenick Lombardozzi, Cameron Boyce, Jen Richards and Casey Wilson. BBC has announced that Rachel Portman (Emma, The Cider House Rules, Chocolat, The Vow, Never Let Me Go) is composing the original score for the upcoming animated TV special Mimi and the Mountain Dragon. The music will be performed by the BBC Philharmonic featuring singers from the Hallé’s family of choirs and will be recorded at Media City UK, Salford. The animated short about a village that quakes in fear of the mighty Mountain Dragon is based on the children’s book of the same title by Sir Michael Morpurgo (War Horse) and adapted for the screen by novelist, poet, and playwright, Owen Sheers. BMG has released a soundtrack album for the Brazilian Netflix original series Sintonia. The 5-track EP features MC Fioti’s Funk da Netflix, as well as original tracks by MC Doni & Dondoka. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Sintonia is created by Kondzilla and stars MC Jottape, Christian Malheiros and Bruna Mascarenhas. The series centers on three teens living in the same São Paulo favela as they pursue their dreams while maintaining their friendship, amid a world of music, drugs and religion. Mark Orton (Nebraska, The Good Girl, My Old Lady) has recently scored the upcoming Pixar Animation short Loop. The film is written and directed by Erica Milsom and follows a non-verbal, autistic girl and a chatty boy who are partnered on a canoeing trip and must both learn how the other experiences the world. Michael Warch is producing the project, which is one of three new shorts from Pixar’s SparkShorts series (the others being Wind, scored by Andrew Jimenez, and Float, scored by Barney Jones). Premiering tonight is the new HBO original series The Righteous Gemstones created by Danny McBride and starring himself, John Goodman, Edi Patterson, Adam Devine, Cassidy Freeman, Tony Cavalero, Tim Baltz and Greg Alan Williams. The show’s original music composed by Joseph Stephens (Observe and Report, Flower, Eastbound & Down, Vice Principals). Premiering on Wednesday, August 21, is the Hulu original series This Way Up created by Aisling Bea who also stars in the comedy alongside Sharon Horgan, Aasif Mandvi, Tobias Menzies, Indira Varma, Sorcha Cusack, Chris Geere, Kadiff Kirwan, Ricky Grover and Daniela Spataru. Vince Pope (Misfits, Undercover, Bedlam) is composing the show’s original music. The comedy, which is co-produced by Channel 4, follows a whip-smart English-as-a-foreign language teacher as she is trying to pull her life back together after a nervous breakdown. The film marks the feature solo directorial debut of cinematographer Brandon Trost and stars Seth Rogen, Maya Erskine and Sarah Snook. The movie revolves around an immigrant worker at a pickle factory who is accidentally preserved for a century and wakes up in modern day Brooklyn. Simon Rich (Man Seeking Woman, Miracle Workers) wrote the screenplay. The film co-directed by Springsteen and Thom Zimny (Elvis Presley: The Searcher, Springsteen on Broadway) is a cinematic film version of his latest album of the same title and follows the singer/songwriter as he performs his critically acclaimed latest album and muses on life, rock, and the American dream.
