Composers Hays Holladay & Ryan Holladay (Roommates, Class Action Park) are reteaming with director Zach Cregger on the upcoming film adaptation of the hit video franchise Resident Evil. The movie is co-written (with Shay Hatten) and directed by Cregger and stars Austin Abrams, Zach Cherry, Kali Reis and Paul Walter Hauser. The action/horror feature follows a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in a non-stop race for survival as one fateful, horrifying night collapses around him in chaos. Cregger is also producing the project with Constantin Film’s Robert Kulzer (Agatha All Along, Monster Hunter), as well as Roy Lee (It, A Minecraft Movie), Miri Yoon (Don’t Worry Darling, The Mother) and Carter Swan & Asad Qizilbash (The Last of Us, Gran Turismo). The composers have previously co-scored Cregger’s last feature, Weapons (with the director himself), and also contributed several cues to his solo directorial debut, Barbarian. Resident Evil will be released in theaters nationwide on September 18, 2026 by Sony Pictures.
