Terence Blanchard (BlacKkKlansman, Malcolm X, 25th Hour, Inside Man, Red Tails, Da 5 Bloods) has composed the original music for the upcoming drama One Night in Miami. The film marks the feature directorial debut of actress Regina King and stars Kingsley Ben-Adir, Eli Goree, Aldis Hodge, Leslie Odom Jr., Lance Reddick, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Michael Imperioli and Beau Bridges. The movie is written by Kemp Powers based on his 2013 stage play of the same title and centers on a 1964 meeting between Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali, Sam Cooke and Jim Brown. Jess Wu Calder and Keith Calder (Blindspotting, The Guest) are producing the project Snoot Entertainment, alongside Jody Klein for ABKCO, King and Power. Blanchard has previously scored the Calder-produced 2010 movie Bunraku. One Night in Miami will premiere next month at the 2020 Venice and Toronto Film Festivals and has recently been picked up by Amazon Studios for a release this coming awards season.

Blanchard also has Halle Berry’s directorial debut Bruised (also premiering at the Toronto Film Festival) coming up. The composer is also scoring National Geographic’s upcoming series Genius: Aretha and has recently composed the music for the first season of HBO’s Perry Mason, which has been renewed for a second season.
