Jesse Novak is the composer of the new Netflix original series Tuca & Bertie. The animated comedy is created by Lisa Hanawalt and features the voices of Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong. The show is centers on the friendship between two 30-year-old bird women who live in the same apartment building:a cocky, care-free toucan, and an anxious, daydreaming songbird. Hanawalt, Haddish & Wong are also executive producing the project with Raphael Bob-Waksberg, Noel Bright and Steven A. Cohen.

Jefferson Friedman to Score DC Universe’s ‘Harley Quinn’ Series
Jefferson Friedman has been tapped to score the upcoming DC Universe animated series Harley Quinn. The show is based on the DC Comics characters and features the voices of Kaley Cuoco as the title character, Lake Bell as Poison Ivy, Diedrich Bader as Batman, Alan Tudyk as Joker, as well as Ron Funches, Wanda Sykes, Natalie Morales, Jim Rash, Giancarlo Esposito, Jason Alexander, J. B. Smoove, Tony Hale and Christopher Meloni. The series follows Harley as she breaks things off with the Joker and attempts to make it on her own as the criminal “queenpin” of Gotham City.
‘How High 2’ Soundtrack EP Released
Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack EP for the comedy sequel How High 2. The EP features the film’s original score composed by John Jennings Boyd (Being Evel, A Lego Brickumentary) & Eric V. Hachikian (Marco Polo, When We First Met, Life of a King). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. How High 2 is directed by directed by Bruce Leddy and stars Lil Yachty, D.C. Young Fly, DeRay Davis, Alyssa Goss, Mary Lynn Rajskub, as well as Mike Epps who is reprising his role from the original 2001 movie. The comedy follows two young “potrepreneurs” on a magical hash-fueled journey to fund their on-demand munchies delivery start-up.

Kyle Newmaster (The Myth of the American Sleepover, Where Hope Grows, Something Wicked) is currently scoring the upcoming CBS action adventure drama Blood & Treasure. The show is created by Matt Federman & Stephen Scaia and stars Matt Barr, Sofia Pernas, Michael James Shaw, Katia Winter, James Callis, Oded Fehr, Alicia Coppola and Mark Gagliardi. The series centers on a brilliant antiquities expert and a cunning art thief who team up to catch a ruthless terrorist who funds his attacks through stolen treasure.
Bear McCreary Scoring TNT’s ‘Snowpiercer’ TV Series
Bear McCreary (10 Cloverfield Lane, The Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica, Happy Death Day) has recently recorded his score for the pilot episode of the upcoming TNT original series Snowpiercer. The show, which was originally written by Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds, The Black Dahlia) and later developed by Graeme Manson (Orphan Black), is based on Bong Joon-ho’s 2013 feature of the same title (scored Marco Beltrami) and stars Daveed Diggs, Jennifer Connelly, Mickey Sumner, Annalise Basso, Sasha Frolova, Alison Wright, Benjamin Haigh and Roberto Urbina.
Soundtrack Album for BBC’s ‘Back to Life’ Released
A soundtrack album has been released for the new BBC series Back to Life. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Solomon Grey (The Last Post, The Casual Vacancy). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Back to Life is created by Laura Solon and Daisy Haggard who also stars in the show, alongside Geraldine James, Richard Durden, Adeel Akhtar, Jamie Michie, Souad Faress and Jo Martin. The comedy centers on a woman who returns home after eighteen years and stumbles back into adult life in the coastal town she once knew, while the shadow of her past looms large.

Premiering tonight in the U.S. is the mini-series Les Miserables developed by Andrew Davies based on Victor Hugo’s novel and starring Dominic West, David Oyelowo, Lily Collins, Adeel Akhtar, Olivia Colman, Ellie Bamber, Josh O’Connor and Erin Kellyman. The show’s original music is composed by John Murphy (28 Days Later, Sunshine, Miami Vice, Snatch). Premiering tomorrow, April 15 is the Netflix original series No Good Nick created by David H. Chris Alan Lee Scoring BET’s ‘The First Wives Club’ Series & Netflix’s ‘No Good Nick’
Chris Alan Lee has been tapped to score the upcoming BET original series The First Wives Club. The show is developed by Tracy Oliver (Girls Trip, The Sun Is Also a Star) based on the 1996 feature of the same title and stars Ryan Michelle Bathe, Jill Scott and Michelle Buteau. The comedy revolves around three women who band together after their marriages fall apart and find strength in their sisterhood — and of course a little revenge. Oliver is also executive producing the project with Karen Rosenfelt (The Twilight Saga, Marley & Me) and Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men, The Social Network).
ABC’s ‘Bless This Mess’ to Feature Original Score by Ben Decter
Ben Decter is composing the original score for the new ABC comedy Bless This Mess. The show is created by Lake Bell (In a World…) & Elizabeth Meriwether (New Girl, Single Parents) and stars Bell herself, alongside Dax Shepard, Ed Begley Jr., Pam Grier and JT Neal. The series follows two newlyweds as they make the decision to move from big city New York to rural Nebraska and must learn how to weather the storm as they are faced with unexpected challenges in their new life as farmers.
