Trevor Rabin is reuniting with director Boaz Yakin on the upcoming family adventure Max. The movie starring Josh Wiggins, Thomas Haden Church, Lauren Graham and Robbie Amell follows a wayward teen who befriends the military dog that was partnered to his older brother, a US Marine killed in action in Afghanistan. Yakin (Now You See Me, Safe, Fresh) has also written the screenplay with Sheldon Lettich (Lionheart, Bloodsport). Karen Rosenfelt (The Twilight Saga, Marley & Me, Percy Jackson series) and Ken Blancato are producing the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) production.

Weekly TV Music Roundup (January 11, 2015)
Premiering tonight is the new HBO original series Togetherness created and executive produced by Mark & Jay Duplass and starring Amanda Peet, Melanie Lynskey, Mark Duplass and Steve Zissis. The show’s original music is composed by Michael Andrews (Neighbors, Bridesmaids, Donnie Darko) who previously scored the Duplass Brothers’ features Cyrus and Jeff Who Lives at Home. The series about two couples who are living under the same Los Angeles roof and who are struggling in their relationships while dealing with their individual problems will every Sunday night on HBO. Premiering tomorrow, January 12, is the new MTV original drama Eye Candy based on the book by R.L. Stine, executive produced by Jason Blum and starring Victoria Justice, Casey Deidrick, Harvey Guillen, Kiersey Clemons and John Garet Stoker. Dino Meneghin (Teen Wolf) is composing the show’s original score. Eye Candy follows a tech genius who is persuaded by her roommate to begin online dating and begins to suspect that one of her mysterious suitors might be a deadly cyber stalker. Trevor Rabin to Score Syfy’s ’12 Monkeys’ TV Series
Executive producer Terry Matalas has announced on Twitter that Trevor Rabin is composing the music for the upcoming Syfy original series 12 Monkeys. The show is based on the 1995 feature directed by Terry Gilliam and stars Aaron Standford, Amanda Schull, Noah Bean and Kirk Acevedo. The series follows a time traveler from the post-apocalyptic future who appears in present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate the human race. Matalas is also executive producing the Universal Cable production with Travis Fickett (Nikita), Natalie Chaidez and Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven and Richard Suckle (American Hustle, The International).

Five new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Opening in most theaters is the fantasy comedy drama The Secret Life of Walter Mitty directed by Ben Stiller and starring himself, Kristen Wiig, Shirley MacLaine, Adam Scott, Kathryn Hahn and Sean Penn. The film’s original score is composed by Theodore Shapiro (Tropic Thunder, The Devil Wears Prada) and features vocals by Jose Gonzalez. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. Click here to listen to audio clips and for more information. Shapiro has also co-written the original songs Step Out and Stay Alive with Craig Wedren. The songs performed by Gonzalez are featured on a separate soundtrack, which also includes track aby Junip, Of Monsters and Men, David Bowie and more (click here for the full details). Also opening this week is The Wolf of Wall Street directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie, Matthew McConaughey, Jon Favreau, Kyle Chandler, Rob Reiner, Jon Bernthal and Jean Dujardin. The film doesn’t feature any original score. Theodore Shapiro composed a couple of cues for the infomercials and ads featured in the movie. Virgin Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film by artists including Billy Joel, Bo Diddley, Elmore James, Eartha Kitt, Howlin’ Wolf, The Lemonheads, Cannonball Adderley and Joe Cuba. Trevor Rabin to Score ‘Grudge Match’
Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that Trevor Rabin is composing the music for the upcoming sports comedy Grudge Match. The film is directed by Peter Segal (Anger Management, The Longest Yard) and stars Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone as two local Pittsburgh fighters and old boxing rivals who come out of retirement for one final match. Kevin Hart, Alan Arkin, Kim Basinger, Jon Bernthal and Camden Gray are co-starring. Rodney Rothman has written the screenplay based on a story by Tim Kelleher (First Kid). Bill Gerber (Gran Torino, The Dukes of Hazzard), Mark Steven Johnson (Ghost Rider, Daredevil), Michael Ewing (Get Smart) and Ravi Mehta are producing the project for Gerber Pictures Production and Callahan Filmworks Production.

Premiering on Tuesday, February 19 is the new CW drama Cult created by Rockne S. O’Bannon (Farscape, V) and starring Matt Davis, Jessica Lucas, Alona Tal and Robert Knepper. The series follows a journalist blogger and a production assistant, who investigate a series of mysterious disappearances that are linked to a popular television series. O’Bannon is executive producing the show with Josh Schwartz (The O.C.), Stephanie Savage (Gossip Girl) and Len Goldstein (Hart of Dixie). The drama’s original score is composed by Tim Jones who has previously scored the Schwartz-produced show Chuck, as well as the second season of Human Target. Trevor Rabin Honored at ASCAP Film and TV Music Awards
The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) hosted its 27th Annual Film & Television Music Awards last Thursday night, June 28, 2012 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. The awards celebration honored composers of the top box office film music, the most performed television music and the top video game music of 2011. The honorees included composers Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore, John Powell, Michael Giacchino, James Newton Howard, Carter Burwell, Trent Reznor and Patrick Doyle. Trevor Rabin to Receive ASCAP Henry Mancini Award
The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) has announced that composer Trevor Rabin will be honored at the 27th Annual ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards on June 28, 2012 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, California. Rabin will receive the ASCAP Henry Mancini Award, which is awarded to composers in recognition of their outstanding achievements and contributions to the world of film and television music. The composer’s best known credits include numerous films for producer Jerry Bruckheimer, including Remember the Titans, Con Air, Enemy of the State, Gone in 60 Seconds, both National Treasuremovies, Bad Boys 2 and Armageddon. The former member of the rock band Yes also composed the music for such titles as Get Smart, The Guardian and most recently, I Am Number Four. Previous recipients of the award include Angelo Badalamenti, Bruce Broughton, Carter Burwell, John Debney, Mark Isham, Quincy Jones, Michel Legrand, Dennis McCarthy, Randy Newman, James Newton Howard, Johnny Mandel, Marc Shaiman, Howard Shore, and Hans Zimmer. In addition, the composers of the most performed film and television music of 2011 will also be honored at the ASCAP event.
Trevor Rabin to Score ABC’s ‘Zero Hour’ Pilot
Trevor Rabin has been tapped to score the ABC drama pilot Zero Hour. The show is created by Paul Scheuring (Prison Break) and stars Anthony Edwards (ER) as a former editor of a skeptics magazine who becomes involved in one the most compelling conspiracies in human history when his wife is kidnapped. Michael Nyqvist (Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), Jacinda Barrett, Addison Timlin, Carmen Ejogo and Scott Michael Foster (Greek) are co-starring. Pierre Morel (Taken, From Paris With Love) is directing the pilot. Scheuring has also written the pilot’s script and is executive producing the ABC Studios production with Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, Red) and Dan McDermott.

A film that is likely to find distribution within the next few days or weeks given its high profile cast and positive critical reaction is the comedy drama Robot and Frank directed by Jake Schreier. The movie stars Frank Langella as an elderly ex-jewel thief who leads a lonely life until his grown children install a robot to care for him, sparking off an unlikely friendship. Susan Sarandon, James Marsden, Liv Tyler, Peter Saarsgard (as the robot’s voice), Jeremy Sisto and Jeremy Strong are co-starring. Christopher Ford has written the screenplay and Galt Niederhoffer (The Romantics), Sam Bisbee, Jackie Kelman Bisbee and Lance Acord (BAFTA-nominated cinematographer for Lost in Translation) are producing. The film’s music is written by Francis and the Lights (aka Francis Farewell Starlit). The project marks the singer/songwriter’s first film music project.
