Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is Disney’s live action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast directed by Bill Condon and starring Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Kevin Kline, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ian McKellen, Audra McDonald and Emma Thompson. The film’s original music is composed by Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Aladdin). He also wrote the movie’s classic songs with Howard Ashman and the new songs with lyricist Tim Rice. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album in two different editions. Click here for the details of both the regular and deluxe edition.

Also opening wide is the horror thriller The Belko Experiment directed by Greg McLean, written and produced by James Gunn and starring Tony Goldwyn, John Gallagher Jr., Adria Arjona, Michael Rooker, John C McGinley, Sean Gunn and Melonie Diaz. Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, 300, Watchmen, Dawn of the Dead) has composed the film’s original score. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as two songs performed by Jose Prieto and Gabriela Teran. ‘Mean Dreams’ Soundtrack Details

A soundtrack will be released for the crime thriller Mean Dreams. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ryan Lott (aka Son Lux) (The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, Paper Towns). The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 31, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Mean Dreams is directed by Nathan Morlando and stars Bill Paxton, Sophie Nélisse, Josh Wiggins and Colm Feore. The movie follows two teenagers desperate to escape their broken and abusive homes as they embark on a journey that will change their lives forever. The thriller premiered at last year’s Cannes Film Festival and will be released in select theaters and on VOD this weekend by Vertical Entertainment.

Son Lux Scoring ‘Mean Dreams’

Son Lux aka Ryan Lott has recently composed the original music for the upcoming crime thriller Mean Dreams. The film is directed by Nathan Morlando (Citizen Gangster) and stars Josh Wiggins, Sophie Nélisse, Bill Paxton and Colm Feore. The movie follows a 15-year-old boy who steals a bag of drug money and runs away with the girl he loves while her violent and corrupt cop father hunts them down. Kevin Coughlin and Ryan Grassby have written the screenplay. William Woods and Allison Black are producing the project.

‘Paper Towns’ Score Album Announced

Fox Music will release a score album for the film adaptation of John Green’s novel Paper Towns. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ryan Lott aka Son Lux (The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby) who recorded his score with a 36-piece string orchestra at Capitol Records. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, August 7 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Visit Soundcloud to listen to three tracks from the score. A separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the movie has previously been released by Atlantic Records. Paper Towns is directed by Jake Schreier and stars Nat Wolff, Cara Delevingne, Halston Sage, Austin Abrams, Jaz Sinclair and Justice Smith.

Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi action comedy Pixels directed by Chris Columbus and starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad and Brian Cox. The film’s original music is composed by Henry Jackman (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Big Hero 6, X-Men: First Class, Wreck-It-Ralph). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Check out our previous news article for the full album details. Also visit Music Times and Bam! Smack! Also opening wide is the boxing drama Southpaw directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams, Forest Whitaker, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Naomie Harris, Oona Laurence and Rita Ora. James Horner (Avatar, Titanic, A Beautiful Mind) composed his last film score for the film, which is also dedicated to the composer. Son Lux aka Ryan Lott revealed in an interview with MTV that he is composing the score for the upcoming coming-of-age drama Paper Towns. The movie based on the bestselling novel by John Green (The Fault In Our Stars) is directed by Jake Schreier (Robot & Frank) and stars Nat Wolff, Cara Delevingne, Halston Sage, Austin Abrams, Jaz Sinclair and Justice Smith. Michael H. Weber & Scott Neustadter ((500) Days of Summer, The Spectacular Now) have written the screenplay. The movie follows a young man and his friends embark upon the road trip of their lives to find the missing girl next door.

Glassnote Records has released a soundtrack album for the indie drama The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby. The album features the original music from and inspired by the film composed by Son Lux, including the original song No Fate Awaits Me. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby is written and directed by Ned Benson and stars Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Viola Davis, Ryan Eggold, Bill Hader, Isabelle Huppert and William Hurt. The movie follows a married couple who suddenly find themselves as strangers longing to understand each other in the wake of a tragedy.

Opening in most theaters is the family movie Dolphin Tale 2 written and directed by Charles Martin Smith and starring Harry Connick, Jr., Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, Kris Kristofferson, Nathan Gamble, Cozi Zuehlsdorff and Austin Stowell. The film’s original music is composed by Rachel Portman (The Cider House Rules, Chocolat, The Manchurian Candidate). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Son Lux is composing the score for the upcoming movies The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Him and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Hers. The double feature is written and directed by Ned Benson and stars Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, William Hurt, Jess Weixler, Nina Arianda, Viola Davis, Isabelle Huppert, Bill Hader and Ciaran Hinds. The films follow a New York City couple during a difficult time in their marriage from the perspectives of the restaurant-owner husband and of the wife, who goes back to college. Cassandra Kulukundis and Kirk D’Amico (Kinsey, Margin Call) are producing the Unison Films and Myriad Pictures production. The project marks Son Lux’s first major film scoring assignment.
