Sean Callery is set to compose the music for the upcoming Fox drama 24: Legacy. The composer has already scored the pilot episode for the 24 spin-off starring Corey Hawkins, Miranda Otto and Jimmy Smits. The series chronicles an adrenaline-fueled race against the clock to stop a devastating terrorist attack on United States soil. Howard Gordon (Homeland, Tyrant), Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, Empire), Manny Coto (Dexter), Evan Katz, Stephen Hopkins (The Ghost and the Darkness, Predator 2) and Kiefer Sutherland return as the drama’s executive producers.

Sean Callery to Score ABC’s ‘Designated Survivor’
Sean Callery has signed on to score the upcoming ABC drama Designated Survivor. The show is created by David Guggenheim (Safe House) and stars Kiefer Sutherland, Kal Penn, Maggie Q, Natascha McElhone, Adan Canto and Italia Ricci. The series follows a low-level U.S. Cabinet member who finds himself unexpectedly appointed President after a terrorist attack kills everyone above him in the Presidential line of succession. Guggenheim and Sutherland are also executive producing the Mark Gordon Company and ABC Studios production with Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Deadpool, The Martian), Aditya Sood, Susan Bymel (Touch) and showrunner Amy B. Harris.

Premiering tonight is the AMC original series Into the Badlands created by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar and starring Daniel Wu, Marton Csokas, Aramis Knight, Emily Beecham, Sarah Bolger and Orla Brady. The show’s original music is composed by David Shephard (Longmire). Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda has written the drama’s title theme. Atli Orvarsson (Vantage Point, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones) who is also scoring NBC’s Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. is composing the show’s original music. Sean Callery to Score Marvel’s ‘Jessica Jones’
Sean Callery revealed at the Comic-Con composer panel Behind the Music: Crime, Death and Resurrection that he is scoring Netflix’s upcoming original series Marvel’s Jessica Jones. The show is developed and executive produced by Melissa Rosenberg and stars Krysten Ritter in the title role, alongside Mike Colter, David Tennant, Rachael Taylor, Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty and Wil Traval. The series based on the Marvel Comics character follows Jones following a brief superhero career as she is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City.
Sean Callery to Score Fox’s ‘Minority Report’
Sean Callery is set to score the upcoming Fox drama Minority Report. The show is based on Steven Spielberg’s 2002 feature starring Tom Cruise of the same title and stars Stark Sands, Meagan Good, Wilmer Valderrama, Daniel London, Laura Regan, Li Jun Li and Zhane Hall. The series follows the unlikely partnership between a man haunted by the future and a cop haunted by her past, as they race to stop the worst crimes of the year 2065 before they happen.
Jeff Russo, Sean Callery, Fil Eisler & More to Discuss TV Music at SCL Events
Tonight, the SCL (Society of Composers & Lyricists) will be hosting the composer panel Composing Combos. The event will feature a conversation with Jeff Russo (Fargo, Power, CSI: Cyber) & cellist Zoë Keating who have co-scored the first season of A&E’s The Returned, as well as James Levine (Nip/Tuck, Glee, American Horror Story) & Jim Dooley (Pushing Daisies, Obsessed) who are co-scoring the TNT hit series The Last Ship. Both combos will discuss the unique process of combining creative visions while working together to score television shows.
CSUN’s Annual Media Composition Studio Ensemble to Showcase the Music of Sean Callery
The CSUN Department of Music and the CSUN Studio Ensemble announced that this year’s Annual Media Composition Studio Ensemble Showcase will feature television and film composer Sean Callery. The Emmy Award-winning composer of such shows as 24, Homeland, Bones, Backstrom and Elementary recently won the Composer’s Choice Award for 2014 Composer of the Year at the ASCAP Film & Television Music Awards. The showcase will feature CSUN student orchestra musicians performing alongside L.A. studio professionals. The concert will include the premiere performance of Callery’s music for the 200th episode of Bones, which he co-composed with Jamie Forsyth and Julia Newmann. For the episode set in the 1950s, the composer used a live orchestra to help capture the mood of the story’s unique film noir style.
Elliot Goldenthal, Deborah Lurie, Johann Johannsson & Sean Callery Honored at ASCAP Film & TV Music Awards
Last night, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) held its annual Film & Television Music Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Elliot Goldenthal was honored with the ASCAP Founders Award, which is given to songwriters and composers who have made pioneering contributions to music by inspiring and influencing their fellow music creators. The Academy Award-winning composer was presented the award by director Michael Mann who collaborated with Goldenthal on Heat and Public Enemies. Goldenthal’s partner Julie Taymor who worked with him on Frida, Titus, Across the Universe and various stage productions, as well as Neil Jordan who collaborated with the composer on films including Interview with the Vampire and Michael Collins congratulated the composer via a video message.

Premiering tonight in the U.S. on PBS is the British drama Grantchester created by Daisy Coulam and stars James Norton, Robson Green, Morven Christie, Tessa Peake-Jones, Al Weaver and Pheline Roggan. The show’s original music is composed by John Lunn (Downton Abbey, The White Queen). Silva Screen Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score from the show, as well as songs by Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet and Gloria Dee overseas last month. The album will be released digitally on January 20 stateside.
