The full details of the album Elliot Goldenthal – Music for Film have been revealed. The album features music by this year’s recipient of the World Soundtrack Awards Lifetime Achievement Award, Elliot Goldenthal, including all-new studio recordings of selected scores by the Academy Award-winning composer performed by the Brussels Philharmonic and conducted by WAS music director Dirk Brossé. As previously reported, the record includes the world premiere release of two complete concert suites, the Grand Gothic Suite with highlights from the composer’s score for Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever and Batman & Robin and Final Fantasia with music from Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Further highlights include selections from Goldenthal’s scores for Julie Taymor’s Frida & Titus, David Fincher’s Alien³, Michael Mann’s Heat and Neil Jordan’s Interview with the Vampire. Elliot Goldenthal – Music for Film will be released digitally this Friday, October 18 by Silva Screen Records (click here to stream/download). A CD version is now available for pre-order on Amazon.

Film Fest Gent has announced the new album Elliot Goldenthal – Music for Film featuring music by the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s World Soundtrack Awards, including all-new studio recordings of selected scores by the composer performed by the Brussels Philharmonic and conducted by the festival’s music director Dirk Brossé. The album includes two new concert suites for his Academy Award-winning score from Julie Taymor’s Frida, The Grand Gothic Suite, which includes highlights from his Grammy-nominated score for Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever and his never commercially unreleased score for Batman & Robin, the suite Final Fantasia, which celebrates his music for Hironobu Sakaguchi’s Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and a suite from his score for David Fincher’s Alien 3.

Opening in limited release this weekend is the sci-fi thriller Possessor written and directed by Brandon Cronenberg and starring Andrea Riseborough, Christopher Abbott, Rossif Sutherland, Tuppence Middleton, Sean Bean and Jennifer Jason Leigh. The film’s original music is composed by Jim Williams (Raw, Beast, Kill List, Sightseers, A Field in England). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Opening in select theaters before premiering on Apple TV+ on October 23 is the comedy On the Rocks written and directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Bill Murray, Rashida Jones and Marlon Wayans. The French indie pop band Phoenix (Lost in Translation, Somewhere) has composed the film’s original music. Glassnote Entertainment has released a first song by the band as a digital single this summer. ‘The Glorias’ Soundtrack Album Details
Zarathustra Music will release a soundtrack album for the biographical drama The Glorias. The album features the film’s original score composed by Academy Award winner Elliot Goldenthal (Frida, Interview with the Vampire, Heat, Alien 3, Batman Forever, Michael Collins). The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 2, 2020 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. A CD version is set to come out on December 11 and is available to order here. The Glorias is co-written and directed by Julie Taymor and stars Julianne Moore, Alicia Vikander, Bette Midler, Janelle Monáe, Lorraine Toussaint, Lulu Wilson, Ryan Kiera Armstrong and Kimberly Guerrero. The movie centers on journalist, fighter, and feminist Gloria Steinem, an indelible icon known for her world-shaping activism, guidance of the revolutionary women’s movement, and writing that has impacted generations.

Zarathustra Music has announced the digital release of Michael Collins – Live from Dublin. The EP features the first live performance of the music from the 1996 film composed by Academy Award winner Elliot Goldenthal (Frida, Heat, Alien 3, Interview with the Vampire, Batman Forever, S.W.A.T.) performed by the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, New Dublin Voices, Mick O’Brien, and conductor Ernst van Tiel. Elliot Goldenthal to Score Julie Taymor’s ‘The Glorias: A Life on the Road’
Elliot Goldenthal confirmed in a recent interview on the Nikhil Hogan Show that he will be scoring Julie Taymor’s next feature The Glorias: A Life on the Road. The film stars Julianne Moore feminist icon Gloria Steinem and follows her journey to become a crusader for equal rights and her groundbreaking work as a journalist and activist. Alicia Vikander is reportedly also in talks to join the drama. Taymor also co-wrote the screenplay with playwright Sarah Ruhl based on Steinem’s memoir My Life on the Road. She is also producing the project with Alex Saks (The Florida Project, Book Club) and Lynn Hendee (Ender’s Game).
Expanded ‘Alien 3’ Soundtrack Announced
La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for David Fincher’s 1992 sci-fi horror sequel Alien 3 starring Sigourney Weaver, Charles S. Dutton and Charles Dance. The album features the expanded original score from the 20th Century Fox production composed and orchestrated by Academy Award winner Elliot Goldenthal (Frida, Interview with the Vampire, Heat, Batman Forever, S.W.A.T., Public Enemies), including over 40 minutes of previously unreleased music. The 2-CD set, which is limited to 3500 copies, is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also listen to audio samples and check out the full track list.

Elliot Goldenthal Scoring Ritesh Batra’s ‘Our Souls at Night’
Elliot Goldenthal (Frida, Interview with the Vampire, Heat, Alien 3) has recently composed the music for the upcoming romantic drama Our Souls at Night. The film is directed by Ritesh Batra (The Sense of an Ending, The Lunchbox) and stars Jane Fonda, Robert Redford, Matthias Schoenaerts, Judy Greer, Iain Armitage and Bruce Dern. The movie is based on a novel by Kent Haruf and and follows a widow who tries to make a connection with her Colorado neighbor, a widower. Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber (The Fault in Our Stars, (500) Days of Summer) adapted the novel for the screen.

The details of the soundtrack album for Julie Taymor’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Elliot Goldenthal (Frida, Interview with the Vampire, Heat, Batman Forever, Alien 3, Public Enemies). The soundtrack will be released physically on March 17, 2017 by Zarathustra Music and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A Midsummer Night’s Dream starring Tina Benko, Max Casella, David Harewood and Kathryn Hunter is the film version of Taymor’s stage production of Shakespeare’s immortal fantasy filmed at Brooklyn’s Polonsky Center in 2013.
