Opening in select theaters before premiering on Apple TV+ on October 23 is the comedy On the Rocks written and directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Bill Murray, Rashida Jones and Marlon Wayans. The French indie pop band Phoenix (Lost in TranslationSomewhere) has composed the film’s original music. Glassnote Entertainment has released a first song by the band as a digital single this summer. Opening in around 400 theaters before coming out on VOD and Blu-ray/DVD nest Tuesday is the sci-fi comedy Save Yourselves! written and directed by Alex H. Fischer & Eleanor Wilson and starring Sunita Mani, John Reynolds, Ben Sinclair, Amy Sedaris, Gary Richardson, John Early, Jo Firestone, Johanna Day and Zenobia Shroff. Also opening in select theaters before coming out on PVOD on October 6 is the sci-fi comedy Spontaneous written and directed by Brian Duffield and starring Katherine Langford, Charlie Plummer, Hayley Law, Rob Huebel, Yvonne Orji and Piper Perabo. Joseph Trapanese (OblivionStraight Outta Compton, The Greatest Showman, Lady and the Tramp, Project Power) has composed the film’s original score. Paramount Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as a song by Tampa. Opening in select cities and on VOD today is the historical drama A Call to Spy directed by Lydia Dean Pilcher and starring Sarah Megan Thomas, Radhika Apte and Stana Katic. The film’s original music is composed by Lillie Rebecca McDonough (Radium Girls). No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which is set at the dawn of WWII and follows a desperate Churchill who orders his new spy agency to train women for covert ops, premiered at last year’s Edinburgh Film Festival and is being distributed by IFC Films.

Also opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the Australian sci-fi thriller 2067 written and directed by Seth Larney and starring Kodi Smit-McPhee and Ryan Kwanten. Kenneth Lampl (FronteraDarkThe One) and Kirsten Axelholm (The Furies) have composed the film’s original music. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score today. Opening in virtual theaters today is the indie coming-of-age drama Once Upon a River written and directed by Haroula Rose and starring Kenadi DelaCerna, Tatanka Means, John Ashton, Lindsay Pulsipher,  Kenn E. Head, Coburn Goss, Ajuawak Kapashesit, Dominic Bogart and Sam Straley. The film’s original music is composed by Death Cab For Cutie’s Zac Rae. Elliot Goldenthal (FridaInterview with the VampireHeatAlien 3Batman Forever) has composed the film’s original music. Opening in select theaters today before premiering on Netflix next Friday, October 9, is the drama The Forty-Year Old Version written and directed by Radha Blank and starring Blank herself, Peter Kim, Oswin Benjamin, Imani Lewis, Haskiri Velazquez, Antonio Ortiz, T.J. Atoms and Reed Birney. The movie doesn’t feature an original score. Guy Routte serves as the project’s music supervisor. The movie, which follows a struggling New York City playwright desperate for a breakthrough who finds inspiration by reinventing herself as a rapper, premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival , and was picked up by Netflix for worldwide distribution.
