Epic Records will release the official soundtrack album for the Apple TV limited series Lucky. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Isabella Summers (aka Isa Machine of Florence + the Machine) (Lisa Frankenstein, KAOS, Little Fires Everywhere, Dust Bunny, The Magic Faraway Tree, Lady Chatterley’s Lover, My Oxford Year, Call Jane, Physical). Also included is the opening titles song Horns of a Bull written and performed by Fiona Apple. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, July 15 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Lucky is created by Jonathan Tropper based on the novel of the same name by Marissa Stapley and stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Drew Starkey, Clifton Collins Jr. and William Fichtner. The 7-part crime thriller revolves around a con artist who is forced to go on the run when a multimillion-dollar heist goes sideways and must fight for her life and a way out as she is being pursued by both the FBI and a ruthless crime boss.

Soundtrack Album for Shudder’s ‘Lucky’ to Be Released
Burning Witches Records will release a soundtrack album for the horror thriller Lucky. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jeremy Zuckerman (Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, Scream: The TV Series, Horse Girl). The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 21 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A vinyl edition is also in the works. Lucky is directed by Natasha Kermani and stars Brea Grant (who also wrote the screenplay), Hunter C Smith, Kristina Klebe, Kausar Mohammed, Yasmine Al-Bustami, Dhruv Uday Singh and Leith M. Burke. The movie follows a self-help book author with all the answers, who suddenly finds herself stalked by an elusive masked man.

Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the action thriller American Made directed by Doug Liman and starring Tom Cruise, Domhnall Gleeson, Sarah Wright, E. Roger Mitchell, Jesse Plemons, Lola Kirke, Alejandro Edda, Benito Martinez, Caleb Landry Jones and Jayma Mays. The film’s original music is composed by Christophe Beck (Frozen, Ant-Man, Edge of Tomorrow). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring three tracks from the composer’s score, as well as songs by Linda Ronstadt, The Allman Brothers, Walter Murphy & more. Two new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Already beating box office records is the fantasy sequel Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. The film’s music is composed by Alexandre Desplat who scored his second Harry Potter film. A soundtrack album featuring Desplat’ score has been released on Watertower Music (click here for our soundtrack announcement including audio clips). Also opening wide is Walt Disney Pictures’ animated film Winnie the Pooh. Henry Jackman composed the score for the movie. A soundtrack album featuring Jackman’s score, the film’s songs written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez and an original song by Zooey Deschanel has been released on Walt Disney Records. John Swihart to Score ‘Nailed’
Film Music Reporter has learned that composer John Swihart has been hired to score the satirical comedy Nailed. David O. Russell (The Fighter, Three Kings) directed the film back in 2008, but he left the production before it was completed. According to various reports, the backers are now shopping the movie to distributors and a test screening was recently held in California, indicating that the project is finally nearing completion. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Jessica Biel, James Marsden, Catherine Keener, Kirstie Alley, Paul Reubens, James Brolin, Tracey Morgan and Jon Stewart. Nailed centers on a small-town waitress who is shot in the head by a nail gun and later goes to Washington to fight for better health care, where she meets a clueless congressman. No distribution deal has been announced and it is unknown at this point when the film will be released.
