Joseph Trapanese (Oblivion, The Witcher, Straight Outta Compton, The Greatest Showman, The Raid: Redemption, Project Power) is the composer of the new NBC drama Brilliant Minds. The show is created by Michael Grassi (Riverdale, Katy Keene) and stars Zachary Quinto, Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh LaThrop, Aury Krebs, Alex MacNicoll, Spence Moore II, Teddy Sears and Donna Murphy. The medical drama is inspired by the life and work of author and physician Oliver Sacks and follows a revolutionary, larger-than-life neurologist and his team of interns as they explore the last great frontier – the human mind – while grappling with their own relationships and mental health.

‘Backstairs at the White House’ World Premiere Soundtrack Release Announced
Dragon’s Domain Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1979 NBC miniseries Backstairs at the White House directed by Michael O’Herlihy, developed for television by Gwen Bagni & Paul Dubov and starring Leslie Uggams, Olivia Cole, Louis Gossett Jr., Cloris Leachman, Robert Hooks, Leslie Nielsen and Hari Rhodes. The album features the show’s original music composed and conducted by Emmy Award winner Morton Stevens (Hawaii Five-O, Masada, Gunsmoke, Wheels, The Manians of America). The soundtrack is now available to order as a limited 2-CD set on the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples and find out more about the release.
Original Song ‘Get Your Irish Up’ from NBC’s ‘Extended Family’ Released
Lionsgate Records has released the original Irish “drinking song” Get Your Irish Up from the NBC comedy Extended Family. The track, which was featured in last week’s St. Patrick Day-themed episode The Consequences of Being Irish is written by Liam O’Malley and is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. David Michael Frank’s ‘A Will of Their Own’ & ‘About Sarah’ Scores to Be Released
Dragon’s Domain Records has announced a new soundtrack album featuring the world premiere release of two scores composed by David Michael Frank (Above the Law, Code of Silence, Poison Ivy, Extreme Justice, The Mole). The album includes the composer’s music from the 1998 NBC mini-series A Will of Their Own directed by Karen Arthur and starring Lea Thompson, Ellen Burstyn, Faye Dunaway & Thomas Gibson, as well as his score for the 1998 CBS television movie About Sarah co-written directed by Susan Rohrer and starring Kellie Martin, Mary Steenburgen & Diane Baker. The David Michael Frank Collection – Volume 3 is now available to order as a limited edition CD on the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples and find out more about the release. The soundtrack will also be available to stream on all major digital services in a couple of weeks.
Main Title Theme from NBC’s ‘Lopez vs. Lopez’ Released
Lakeshore Records has released the main title theme from the NBC comedy Lopez vs. Lopez. An extended version version of the track written by the show’s composer Raney Shockne (Queen of the South, Kevin Can Wait, Anger Management, The To Do List, Debris, The Wedding Year) is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. Premiering on Wednesday, December 20, is the Disney+ original series Percy Jackson and the Olympians developed by Rick Riordan & Jonathan E. Steinberg based on Riordan’s book series and starring Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri. Bear McCreary (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Outlander, The Walking Dead) has composed the themes for the show and Sparks & Shadows have provided the score. Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack album this coming Friday, December 22. Premiering on Thursday, December 21, is the second season of the Peacock original anthology series Dr. Death written by Ashley Michel Hoban based on the Wondery podcast and starring Edgar Ramírez, Mandy Moore, Luke Kirby, Gustaf Hammarsten and Ashley Madekwe. The show’s original music is composed by Leopold Ross (Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, The Book of Eli, Death Note, Dispatches from Everywhere) & Nick Chuba (The Girl from Plainville, Operation Varsity Blues) who previously co-scored Season 1 with Atticus Ross. The new season, which follows”Miracle Man” Paolo Macchiarini, a charming surgeon renowned for his innovative operations, will be available to stream on Peacock.
Jeff Cardoni Scoring NBC’s ‘Extended Family’
Jeff Cardoni (Silicon Valley, The Kominsky Method, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, CSI :Miami, White House Plumbers, Just Friends) is scoring the new NBC comedy Extended Family. The show is created by Mike O’Malley (Survivor’s Remorse) and stars Jon Cryer, Donald Faison, Abigail Spencer, Finn Sweeney and Sofia Capanna. The series follows a couple who – after an amicable divorce – decide to continue to raise their kids at the family home while taking turns on who gets to stay with them.

Premiering in the U.S. today is the French-Canadian limited series The Night Logan Woke Up written and directed by Xavier Nolan and starring Julie Le Breton, Anne Dorval, Jasmine Lemée, Patrick Hivon and Pier-Gabriel Lajoie. The show’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, The Dark Knight, Dune, Gladiator) and David Fleming (The Last of Us, Hillbilly Elegy). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score earlier this year. Radiocattleya has released a soundtrack featuring the psychedelic post-rock collective’s score earlier this year when the series premiered overseas on Sky. Danny Lux (Grey’s Anatomy, Manifest, Ally McBeal, Boston Legal, Halloween: Resurrection) is composing the original music for the new NBC drama The Irrational. The show is created by Arika Lisanne Mittman (La Brea, Timeless) inspired by Dan Ariely’s 2008 book Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces That Shape Our Decisions and stars Jesse L. Martin, Maahra Hill, Molly Kunz, Travina Springer and Arash DeMaxi. The series revolves around a world-renowned professor of behavioral science as he lends his unique expertise on an array of high-stakes cases involving governments, corporations and law enforcement.
