Bear McCreary (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,  The Walking Dead, 10 Cloverfield Lane) has recently been composing music for the upcoming Disney+ original series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The Emmy Award-winning composer and members of his Sparks & Shadows team have been recording the show’s score in recent months. The fantasy adventure is based on Disney Hyperion’s best-selling book series by Rick Riordan and stars Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri. The series tells the story of the titular 12-year-old modern demigod who’s just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. Jon Steinberg & Dan Shotz (The Old Man) serve as the project’s showrunners and are also executive producing the 20th Television and Disney Branded Television production with Rick & Rebecca Riordan, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (The Maze Runner, Stargirl), Bert Salke (Alaska Daily), Jeremy Bell & D.J. Goldberg (The Spiderwick Chronicles), Jim Rowe (Zack Snyder’s Justice League), Monica Owusu-Breen (Brothers & Sisters), Anders Engström (The Kiss of Evil), Jet Wilkinson (The Chi), as well as James Bobin (The Muppets, Flight of the Conchords) who also directed the first two episodes. McCreary has previously collaborated with Steinberg & Shotz on the TV shows Human Target, Black Sails and See. Percy Jackson and the Olympians will premiere on December 20, 2023 on Disney+.

McCreary’s other upcoming projects include new seasons Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Starz’s Outlander and Netflix’s Masters of the Universe: Revelation.
