Four new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the the family movie Dolphin Tale directed by Charles Martin Smith and starring Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, Harry Connick, Jr., Kris Kristofferson and Nathan Gamble. The film’s score is written by Mark Isham. Varese Sarabande will be releasing the soundtrack album including Isham’s music on October 11, 2011. Also opening this weekend is the drama Moneyball directed by Bennett Mikler and starring Brad Pitt, Robin Wright, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Chris Pratt. The film’s music is composed by Mychael Danna. A soundtrack album featuring Danna’s score, as well as two songs by Kerris Dorsey and This Will Destroy You has been released earlier this week on Madison Gate Records. ‘Dolphin Tale’ Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack for the family movie Dolphin Tale. The album includes the original score by composer Mark Isham. The soundtrack will be released on October 11, 2011 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Four new movies are opening wide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the thriller Contagion directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Jennifer Ehle, Laurence Fishburne, Brian Cranston and John Hawkes. The film’s music is composed by Cliff Martinez. A soundtrack album featuring the score by Martinez has been released by Watertower Music. Also opening wide is the drama Warrior directed by Gavin O’Connor and starring Tom Hardy, Nick Nolte, Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Morrison and Noah Emmerich. The movie’s score is written by Mark Isham. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album including Isham’s score, as well as a song by The National. The digital release is already out and a CD version will be released next Tuesday. Varese Sarabande has announced two new score albums to be released in October. First up is the soundtrack release for the 3D family drama Dolphin Tale. ‘Warrior’ Soundtrack Details

Lakeshore Records has announced the details for the soundtrack release for the upcoming action drama Warrior. The album includes the film’s original score by composer Mark Isham, as well as the song About Today by The National. The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 30, 2011 and on CD on September 13. To pre-order the album, visit Amazon. Also check out the audio clips from all tracks on the soundtrack below. Warrior is directed by Gavin O’Connor (Miracle, Pride and Glory) and centers on the youngest son of an alcoholic former boxer who is trained by his father for competition in a mixed martial arts tournament. The film stars Tom Hardy, Nick Nolte, Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Morrison and Noah Emmerich.

Mark Isham Scoring ‘The Lucky One’

Mark Isham has recently recorded his score for the upcoming drama The Lucky One. The composer has taken over scoring duties from Hal Lindes who was originally attached to write the music for the film as reported earlier this year. The movie based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook, Dear John) follows a Marine who survives three tours in Iraq and attributes his good fortune to a photograph he carried of a woman he has never met. He sets out to meet his good-luck charm when he returns to North Carolina. The drama starring Zac Efron, Taylor Schilling and Blythe Danner is directed by Scott Hicks (Hearts in Atlantis, The Boys Are Back).

Mark Isham Scoring ‘Once Upon a Time’

Mark Isham has been hired to score the drama pilot Once Upon a Time. The project centers on a woman with a troubled past who is drawn into a small town in Maine where the magic and mystery of Fairy Tales just may be real. The pilot’s cast includes Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White, Robert Carlyle as Rumpelstiltskin, Lana Parrilla as the Evil Queen and Josh Dallas as Prince Charming. Jennifer Morrison, Jamie Dornan and Jared Gilmore are co-starring. Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis who are best known as writers on Lost and last year’s Tron: Legacy wrote the pilot and will be serving as executive producers on the project. Damon Lindelof (Lost) acts as a consulting producer and Mark Mylod (Ali G Indahouse, the upcoming comedy What’s Your Number?) is directing the pilot.

Three new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:

Scream 4 reunites director Wes Craven with composer Marco Beltrami. Two different soundtracks have been released for the horror sequel. A score album featuring Beltrami’s music will be released next Tuesday and a song soundtrack with two score tracks is available on Lakeshore Records. Also opening is the animated feature Rio, which already opened in several foreign territories last weekend generating the highest grossing international opening of the year. The film’s score is by John Powell and Sergio Mendes served as the movie’s executive music producer. Rio‘s music team also includes percussionist Carlinhos Brown, lyricist Siedah Garrett, pop singer Taio Cruz and The Black Eyed Peas’ Will.i.am. A score album will be released next week by Varese Sarabande and the official soundtrack featuring the film’s songs is already out on Interscope Records.

‘The Conspirator’ Soundtracks coming

MIM Records has announced that Mark Isham’s score for Robert Redford’s drama The Conspirator will be released in three different editions. The score features cello solos by Zöe Keating and was recorded with Czech National Orchestra in Prague. The (s)Edition contains 16 tracks of highlights from Isham’s score from the film. To preview the album, visit Isham’s online store or Amazon. The Complete Collector’s Edition includes all 38 tracks from the movie including cues not used in the final version of the film. Exclusively available in Isham’s online store is a two disc limited edition with both editions of the score signed by Mark Isham. All editions will be released on April 5, 2011.

Mark Isham to score ‘Dolphin Tale’

Mark Isham revealed in a recent interview on Scorenotes that he just signed on to score the upcoming family drama Dolphin Tale. The movie centers on the friendship between a boy and a dolphin whose tail was lost in a crab trap. The film stars Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, Harry Connick, Jr., Kris Kristofferson and Nathan Gamble. Dolphin Tale was shot in 3D and is supposed to feature spectacular underwater sequences. The film is directed by actor turned director Charles Martin Smith, who previously worked with Mychael Danna on his last two theatrical features (The Snow Walker, Stone of Destiny).
