Jeff Grace is reteaming with director Kelly Reichardt on the upcoming indie drama Certain Women. The film is written and directed by Reichardt and stars Laura Dern, Kristen Stewart, Michelle Williams, James Le Gros, Jared Harris and Lily Gladstone. The movie centers on the lives of three women in small-town America, where each is imperfectly blazing a trail. Neil Kopp (Wendy and Lucy, Paranoid Park), Vincent Savino & Anish Savjani (Green Room, Blue Ruin) are producing the project. Todd Haynes (Carol, Far from Heaven) is among the film’s executive producers.

Jeff Grace to Score SundanceTV’s ‘Hap and Leonard’
Jeff Grace has been tapped to score the upcoming SundanceTV original series Hap and Leonard. The show is created by Jim Mickle & Nick Damici and stars James Purefoy, Michael Kenneth Williams and Christina Hendricks. The drama is set in 1980s East Texas and centers on Hap Collins, a white working-class ex-con, and Leonard Pine, an openly gay, black Vietnam vet with anger issues. Mickle and Damici are also executive producing the Sundance Studios production with Nick Shumaker (Another Earth) and Jeremy Platt (The Violent Kind). Grace has previously collaborated with Mickle on his last three features, Stake Land, We Are What We Are and Cold in July.
Jeff Grace Scoring Ti West’s ‘In a Valley of Violence’
Jeff Grace is reteaming with director Ti West on the upcoming western In a Valley of Violence. The film written and directed by West stars John Travolta, Ethan Hawke, Taissa Farmiga, Karen Gillan and James Ransone. The movie is set in the 1890s and follows drifter with nothing to lose who arrives in a small town and seeks revenge on the thugs who killed his best friend. Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Whiplash, Sinister) is producing the project through his Blumhouse production company, alongside Jacob Jaffke (Sleepwalk with Me, The Sacrament) and Peter Phok (Stake Land).

Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the fantasy adventure Maleficent directed by Robert Stromberg and starring Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, Sharlto Copley, Imelda Staunton, Sam Riley, Juno Temple and Lesley Manville. James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games, King Kong, The Sixth Sense) has composed the film’s original music. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as a new cover version of the song Once Upon a Dream by Lana Del Rey. Also opening wide is the western comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West directed by Seth MacFarlane and starring himself, Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, Giovanni Ribisi, Sarah Silverman, Neil Patrick Harris and Liam Neeson. The film’s original music is composed by Joel McNeely (Holes, Young Indiana Jones Chronicles). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the end credits song A Million Ways to Die performed by Alan Jackson and the film’s musical number If You’ve Only Got a Moustache. Two new movies are opening nationwide this holiday weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the superhero sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past directed by Bryan Singer and starring Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Peter Dinklage, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. The film’s music is composed by John Ottman (X2, The Usual Suspects, The Fantastic Four) who also serves as the film’s editor. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as two songs from the film. Click here for the full album details. ‘Cold in July’ Soundtrack Details
Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the thriller Cold in July. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jeff Grace (Meek’s Cutoff, The House of the Devil) who previously collaborated with the film’s director Jim Mickle on Stake Land and last year’s We Are What We Are. Also included is White Lions’ Wait, Dynatron’s Cosmo Black and Kasey Lansdale’s Back of my Smile. The soundtrack will be released on May 19, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Cold in July stars Michael C. Hall, Sam Shepard, Don Johnson & Vinessa Shaw and follows a small-town Texas man who kills a home intruder, only to see his life violently unravel. The thriller premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and was picked up by IFC Films for domestic distribution. The film will be released on May 23 in select theaters and on VOD.
‘Night Moves’ Soundtrack Details
Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the thriller Night Moves. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jeff Grace (We Are What We Are, The Innkeepers, The House of the Devil) who previously collaborated with the movie’s director Kelly Reichardt on Meek’s Cutoff. The soundtrack will be released on June 3, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The album is already available overseas. Night Moves stars Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard. The movie follows three radical environmentalists who are plotting the explosion of a hydroelectric dam—the symbol of the energy-sucking, resource-devouring industrial culture they despise.
‘Hellbenders’ Soundtrack Details
ScreamWorks Records will release a soundtrack for the horror comedy Hellbenders. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jeff Grace (Stake Land, Meek’s Cutoff, The House of the Devil). The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 29, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are embedded after the jump. Hellbenders is written and directed by J.T. Petty and stars Clifton Collins Jr., Clancy Brown, Andre Royo, Robyn Rikoon, Macon Blair and Dan Fogler. The film follows a team of lewd and blasphemous ministers who live in a constant state of debauchery in order to be ready so they can drag the worst of demons back to Hell.

In addition to four movies (Lone Survivor, Her, August: Osage County, Inside Llewyn Davis) expanding nationwide, only one movie is opening wide this weekend:
Opening in roughly 2100 theaters is the 3D action adventure The Legend of Hercules directed by Renny Harlin and starring Kellan Lutz, Liam McIntyre, Gaia Weiss, Scott Adkins, Roxanne McKee and Liam Garrigan. The film’s original music is composed by Tuomas Kantelinen (Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan) who previously scored Harlin’s Mindhunters. No word yet on a soundtrack album. Opening in limited release is the family adventure The Adventurer: The Curse of the Midas Box directed by Jonathan Newman and starring Michael Sheen, Lena Headey, Sam Neill, Ioan Gruffudd and Aneurin Barnard. Fernando Velazquez (The Impossible, Mama, Devil) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score is in the works. The Adventurer is based on the novel by G.P. Taylor and follows a 17-year-old boy in Victorian England who is searching for his lost parents and is kidnapped in a mysterious luxury hotel. The movie is being released by Image Entertainment and The Film Arcade.

Jeff Grace is reuniting with director Jim Mickle on the upcoming thriller Cold in July. The film starring Michael C. Hall, Don Johnson, Sam Shepard, Vinessa Shaw, Nick Damici and Wyatt Russell follows a small-town Texas man kills a home intruder, only to see his life violently unravel. Mickle has also co-written the screenplay with his writing partner Nick Damici based on the cult novel of the same title by Joe Lansdale. Linda Moran & René Bastian (Transamerica), Marie Savare de Laitre and Adam Folk (Mulberry Street) are producing the project. Grace has previously collaborated with Mickle on his last two features Stake Land and this year’s We Are What We Are.
