Composer and multi-media artist Rob Mazurek has provided the original score for the upcoming crime drama The Mastermind. The film is written and directed by Kelly Reichardt (First Cow, Wendy and Lucy) and stars Josh O’Connor, Alana Haim, Hope Davis, John Magaro, Bill Camp, Gaby Hoffmann, Amanda Plummer, Eli Gelb and Cole Doman. The movie is set in a sedate corner of Massachusetts around 1970 and follows an unemployed carpenter turned amateur art thief whose life unravels when his first big heist goes haywire.

New Soundtrack Release for Kelly Reichardt’s ‘Old Joy’ Announced
Mississippi Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 2006 indie drama Old Joy written and directed by Kelly Reichardt and starring Lars Knudsen, Neil Kopp, Anish Savjani and Jay Van Hoy. The 6-track EP features the film’s original score composed by the indie rock band Yo La Tengo (Junebug, Adventureland, Shortbus, Far from the Tree). The soundtrack will be released digitally and (for the first time) on vinyl on February 28. The music has previously been released as part of Yo La Tengo’s compilation album They Shoot, We Score. Old Joy follows two old friends as they reunite for a weekend camping trip in the Cascade mountain range east of Portland, Oregon.
‘First Cow’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Merge Records has announced a soundtrack album for the drama First Cow. The album features the film’s original music composed by Nashville guitarist William Tyler who has made his feature film scoring debut on the project. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, March 6 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. A CD and vinyl edition is in the works to come out this summer. First Cow is co-written and directed by Kelly Reichardt and stars John Magaro, Orion Lee, Toby Jones and Ewen Bremner. The movie is set in the early 19th Century and centers on a taciturn loner and skilled cook who has traveled west and joined a group of fur trappers in Oregon Territory, where he finds a true connection with a Chinese immigrant also seeking his fortune.
Jeff Grace Scoring Kelly Reichardt’s ‘Certain Women’
Jeff Grace is reteaming with director Kelly Reichardt on the upcoming indie drama Certain Women. The film is written and directed by Reichardt and stars Laura Dern, Kristen Stewart, Michelle Williams, James Le Gros, Jared Harris and Lily Gladstone. The movie centers on the lives of three women in small-town America, where each is imperfectly blazing a trail. Neil Kopp (Wendy and Lucy, Paranoid Park), Vincent Savino & Anish Savjani (Green Room, Blue Ruin) are producing the project. Todd Haynes (Carol, Far from Heaven) is among the film’s executive producers.
‘Night Moves’ Soundtrack Details
Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the thriller Night Moves. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jeff Grace (We Are What We Are, The Innkeepers, The House of the Devil) who previously collaborated with the movie’s director Kelly Reichardt on Meek’s Cutoff. The soundtrack will be released on June 3, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The album is already available overseas. Night Moves stars Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard. The movie follows three radical environmentalists who are plotting the explosion of a hydroelectric dam—the symbol of the energy-sucking, resource-devouring industrial culture they despise.

Jeff Grace is reuniting with director Kelly Reichardt on the upcoming thriller Night Moves. The film stars Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard as three radical environmentalists who come together to blow up a hydroelectric dam – the very source and symbol of the resource-devouring industrial culture they despise. Reichardt (Wendy and Lucy) co-wrote the script with Jonathan Raymond (Mildred Pierce). Neil Kopp (Paranoid Park) & Anish Savjani are producing the independent feature with Chris Maybach & Saemi Kim (Martha Marcy May Marlene) and Rodrigo Teixeira (Frances Ha). Grace has previously collaborated with the director on the 2010 western Meek’s Cutoff starring Michelle Williams.
