Paramount Music and La-La Land Records will release a soundtrack album for the mini-series Into the West. The album features the Emmy Award-winning score composed by Geoff Zanelli (Disturbia, The Odd Life of Timothy Green). Paramount Music will distribute the digital version of the soundtrack, with La-La Land Records handling the physical release. The 2-disc album will be released on June 18, 2013. Into the West produced by DreamWorks Television and Steven Spielberg chronicles the struggles, heartache and conquests of two families in 19th century America. The project’s cast includes such actors as Josh Brolin, Keri Russell, Skeet Ulrich, Balthazar Getty, Matthew Modine, Beau Bridges, Sean Astin, Lance Henriksen, Rachael Leigh Cook and Keith Carradine.

Geoff Zanelli to Score ‘Louder Than Words’
Geoff Zanelli has been tapped to score the upcoming drama Louder Than Words. The film is directed by directed by Anthony Fabian (Skin) and stars David Duchovny, Hope Davis, Timothy Hutton, Olivia Steele-Falconer, Xander Berkely, Craig Bierko and Scott Cohen. The movie is based on the true story of grieving parents who used the unexpected death of their young daughter as the impetus to erect a children’s hospital in their daughter’s name where families are welcomed into the healing process. Carroll Cartwright (What Maisie Knew, Where the Money Is) wrote the screenplay and Anthony Mastromauro (Beer League) is producing the project for Identity Films. Rod Lurie (The Contender) serves as an executive producer.

Four new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the drama Trouble with the Curve directed by Robert Lorenz and starring Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, Matthew Lillard and Scott Eastwood. The film’s score is written by Academy Award-nominated composer Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Scream). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring Beltrami’s score digitally earlier this week. A physical version is scheduled to come out on October 16. Also opening wide is the action thriller End of Watch written and directed by David Ayer and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Pena, Anna Kendrick, Natalie Martinez, America Ferrera, Frank Grillo, David Harbour and Cody Horn. David Sardy (21, Zombieland, Premium Rush) has composed the film’s score. Relativity Music Group has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as a number of songs from the film including Public Enemy’s new track Harder Than You Think. Four new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the action film sequel The Expendables 2 directed by Simon West and starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film’s music is composed by Brian Tyler who previously scored the 2010 original film. Lionsgate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring Tyler’s music. ‘The Odd Life of Timothy Green’ Soundtrack Announced
Walt Disney Records will be releasing a soundtrack album for the family fantasy drama The Odd Life of Timothy Green. The album features the film’s original score composed by Geoff Zanelli (Disturbia, The Pacific). The soundtrack will be released both physically and digitally on August 14, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Click here to check out audio clips from all 24 tracks on the album. Expected to finish the weekend at the top of the box office is the horror film The Devil Inside directed by William Brent Bell about a woman who travels to Italy where she becomes involved in a series of unauthorized exorcisms during her mission to discover what happened to her mother. The film’s music is written by Brett Detar and Ben Romans. Given the film’s found footage/documentary style, the movie doesn’t feature a lot of music and no soundtrack album release is expected. Opening in limited release is the Japanese drama Norwegian Wood written and directed by Anh Hung Tran and starring Kenichi Matsuyama and Rinko Kikuchi. The film’s music is composed by Radiohead member Jonny Greenwood (There Will Be Blood, We Need to Talk About Kevin). Geoff Zanelli to Score ‘The Odd Life of Timothy Green’
Geoff Zanelli is the composer of the fantasy drama The Odd Life of Timothy Green. The film is written and directed by Peter Hedges (Pieces of April, Dan in Real Life) and stars Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton as a happily married couple who bury a box in their backyard, containing all of their wishes for an infant. Soon, a child is born, though Timothy Green is not all that he appears. Ron Livingston, Dianne Wiest, Odeya Rush, Rosemarie DeWitt and CJ Adams are co-starring in the film produced by Ahmet Zappa, Scott Sanders and James Whitaker. The Odd Life of Timothy Green is scheduled to be released on August 15, 2012 by Walt Disney Pictures.
‘Should’ve Been Romeo’ to Feature Music by Geoff Zanelli
Geoff Zanelli (Disturbia, Hitman) is the composer of the upcoming indie comedy Should’ve Been Romeo. The film is directed by Marc Bennett and stars Paul Ben-Victor, Kelly Osbourne, Ed Asner, Carol Kane, Michael Rapaport, Mary McCormack, Natasha Henstridge, Renee Taylor, B.J. Britt, Evan Handler, Alanna Ubach and Howard Rosenman. The movie centers on a self-centered, middle-aged pitchman for a potato chip company who loses his job and his livelihood just as his grandfather is dropped on his doorstep unexpectedly by his mother on her way to a singles cruise. Ben-Victor also co-wrote the screenplay and is producing alongside Gregory Segal. No release date has been set yet for the comedy.
EXCLUSIVE: ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ Soundtrack Details
Film Music Reporter has received the track list of the soundtrack for the adventure sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. The album features 11 tracks of the original score by Hans Zimmer and Rodrigo y Gabriela, as well as a number of remixes by electronic music artists Photek, Static Avenger, Ki:Theory and Adam Freeland. Also credited on the album is Eric Whitacre (who joined the music team as reported here) and composer Geoff Zanelli. There have also been two new cover arts circulating online (check out our previous article for the original one and see below for the other alternate cover). Geoff Zanelli to score ‘Beneath the Darkness’
According to the Gorfaine/Schwartz agency, Geoff Zanelli has been hired to score the upcoming thriller Beneath the Darkness. In the movie set in Texas, a 16-year-old boy struggles to expose the grim secrets surrounding a “haunted” house after the death of his best friend. The film is directed by Martin Guigui and stars Dennis Quaid, Tony Oller, Aimee Teegarden, Stephen Lunsford, Devon Werkheiser and Brett Cullen. The indie thriller which is currently in post-production is produced by Ronnie Klemer (A League of Their Own) and written by Bruce Wilkinson, who also serves as an executive producer on the film alongside Scott Mednick (Where the Wild Things Are).
