Christophe Beck has composed the music for Pixar Animation Studios’ upcoming animated short Lou. The film marks the directorial debut of Dave Mullins who worked as an animator on projects including Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Up and Cars 2. The movie revolves around a lost-and-found box and the unseen monster within. Dana Murray is producing the short and Pete Docter (Up, Inside Out) & John Lasseter (Toy Story) serve as executive producers. The project marks Beck’s first project for Pixar.

RCA Records will release a score album for DreamWorks Animation’s feature Trolls. The album features the film’s original score composed by Christophe Beck (Frozen, The Peanuts Movie, Ant-Man, The Muppets, Edge of Tomorrow). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, November 4 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. As previously reported, the label has also released a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the movie. Trolls is directed by Mike Mitchell & Walt Dohrn and features the voice talent of Justin Timberlake, Anna Kendrick, Zooey Deschanel, Gwen Stefani, Ron Funches, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Russell Brand, Jeffrey Tambor, Christine Baranski, James Corden and Kunal Nayyar.
Christophe Beck to Score Doug Liman’s ‘Mena’
Christophe Beck is reteaming with director Doug Liman on the upcoming thriller Mena. The film stars Tom Cruise, Domhnall Gleeson, Jesse Plemons, Caleb Landry Jones, Lola Kirke, Sarah Wright, Jayma Mays, Benito Martinez, E. Roger Mitchell and Alejandro Edda. The movie follows a TWA pilot recruited by the CIA to provide reconnaissance on the burgeoning communist threat in Central America in the 1980s who finds himself in charge of one of the biggest covert CIA operations. Gary Spinelli (Stash House) has written the screenplay.
Christophe Beck & Chilly Gonzales Scoring Brad Silberling’s ‘An Ordinary Man’
Christophe Beck announced on Twitter that he is currently co-scoring the upcoming thriller An Ordinary Man with his brother Chilly Gonzales. The film is written and directed by Brad Silberling (Casper, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Land of the Lost) and stars Ben Kingsley, Peter Serafinowicz and Hera Hilmar. The movie follows a war criminal in hiding who begins to form a relationship with his only connection to the outside world, his maid. Silberling and Kingsley are also producing the Enderby Entertainment, Lavender Pictures and Reveal Entertainment production with Rick Dugtale (Dawn Patrol).

Christophe Beck to Score DreamWorks Animation’s ‘Trolls’
Christophe Beck has been tapped to score DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming feature Trolls. The film is directed by Mike Mitchell (Shrek Forever After, Sky High) & Walt Dohrn and features the voices of Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake. The movie is based on the Troll dolls – created by Danish woodcutter Thomas Dam in 1959 based on the legendary Scandinavian troll. Gina Shay (Shrek Forever After) is producing the movie. The project will mark Beck’s third full-length animated feature following Disney’s Frozen and Blue Sky’s The Peanuts Movie, which is currently playing in theaters.
Dan Romer, Christophe Beck & Tom Holkenborg Win Hollywood Music in Media Awards
Last night, the 6th Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMAA) were handed out at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood, CA. Dan Romer was awarded for his score for Cary Fukunaga’s critically acclaimed Netflix original movie Beasts of No Nation in the Best Original Score – Feature Film category. Tom Holkenborg was honored for his music for George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road in the Original Score – Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film and thanked fellow nominees Christophe Beck and Harry Gregson-Williams for giving him his first jobs in the industry during his acceptance speech. Christophe Beck received his second HMMA for his work for The Peanuts Movie in the Best Score – Animated Film category. In addition, Miriam Cutler won the prize for her music for The Hunting Ground in the Original Score – Documentary category.

Epic Records will release a soundtrack album for the animated feature The Peanuts Movie. The album features the film’s original music composed by Christophe Beck (Frozen, Ant-Man, Edge of Tomorrow, The Hangover, The Muppets). Also included is the original song Better When I’m Dancin performed by Meghan Trainor, as well a track by Flo Rida feat. Fitz and new recordings Vince Guaraldi classics. The soundtrack will be released on October 23, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Peanuts Movie directed by Steve Martino is based on the comic strip by Charles M. Schulz and follows Snoopy who embarks upon his greatest mission as he and his team take to the skies to pursue their arch-nemesis, while his best friend Charlie Brown begins his own quest back home.
