Walt Disney Records will release a new soundtrack album for the 1996 animated feature The Hunchback of Notre Dame directed by Gary Trousdale & Kirk Wise and starring Tom Hulce, Demi Moore, Tony Jay, Kevin Kline, Jason Alexander, Paul Kandel, Charles Kimbrough, Mary Wickes and David Ogden Stiers. The Legacy Collection release coincides with the movie’s 25th anniversary and features the original songs from the film written by Academy Award winner Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Enchanted, Tangled) and featuring lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (The Prince of Egypt, Wicked), as well as the remastered original score by Menken, including previously unreleased music. Also included are never before released demo recordings of the songs performed by Menken, Schwartz & others. James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games, King Kong, Maleficent, The Sixth Sense, Signs) has revealed in a recent interview in the latest episode of Score: The Podcast that he is attached to compose music for Lucasfilm’s upcoming Disney+ original series Willow. The show is developed by Jonathan Kasdan (Solo: A Star Wars Story, In the Land of Women) & Wendy Mericle (Arrow) and stars Warwick Davis who returns in the title role, alongside Erin Kellyman, Ellie Bamber, Tony Revolori, Ruby Cruz and Amer Chadha-Patel. The fantasy drama is based on the 1988 feature (produced and written by George Lucas, directed by Ron Howard and scored by James Horner) and will take place years after the events of the film. TMS Music has released a soundtrack album for the Netflix anime series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Yugo Kanno (JoJo’s Bizarre AdventureBatman NinjaPsycho Pass, Ajin). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out audio samples. A CD version is also being released in Japan today and will be available to order as an import in the U.S. on Amazon. Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is directed by Eiichiro Hasumi and features the voices of Nick Apostolides, Stephanie Panisello, Ray Chase, Jona Xiao, Billy Kametz, Joe J. Thomas, Doug Stone and Brad Venable. The track (originally written by Glen Roven as the theme song for the 90s series of the same title) is performed by Kate Nash and is now available to stream/download on all major digital music platforms, including Amazon. Viacom International will release the first soundtrack album for the Comedy Central original series Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s second season composed by Grammy Award-nominated DJ and record producer TOKiMONSTA. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, September 8 and will be available to stream/download here. Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens is created by Awkwafina & Teresa Hsia and stars Awkwafina herself, BD Wong and Lori Tan Chinn. The comedy is inspired by Awkwafina’s real-life growing up in Queens, NY and follows a woman who leans on her family as she navigates life and young adulthood in outer borough-NYC. Ludwig Göransson (The MandalorianTenetCreedVenom, Community) has revealed in a recent interview with Variety that he has started work on his score for Marvel Studios’ upcoming sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The film is directed by Ryan Coogler and stars Lupita Nyong’o, Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett and Dominique Thorne. No plot details have been announced yet. Coogler also co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Robert Cole (The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story, All Day and a Night). Warner Bros. Pictures has confirmed today that Johnny Klimek & Tom Tykwer are co-scoring the upcoming sci-fi action movie The Matrix Resurrections. The film is directed by Lana Wachowski and stars Keanu Reeves & Carrie-Anne Moss who reprise their roles from the original Matrix trilogy (scored by Don Davis). They are joined by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Christina Ricci, Telma Hopkins, Eréndira Ibarra, Toby Onwumere, Max Riemelt, Brian J. The show is created by Julie Delpy (2 Days in Paris, Before Sunrise) and stars herself, Elisabeth Shue, Sarah Jones, Alexia Landeau, Mathieu Demy, Troy Garity, Timm Sharp and Giovanni Ribisi. The comedy drama revolves around four women – a chef, a single mom, an heiress and a job seeker – as they dig into love and work in pre-pandemic LA.
