‘Whelm’ Soundtrack to Be Released

Icarus Two Recordings will release a soundtrack album for the indie thriller Whelm. The album features the film’s original music composed by Chris Dudley (of the rock band Underoath) and writer/director Skyler Lawson. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, January 12 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Whelm is directed by Lawson and stars Delil Baran, Ronan Colfer, Dylan Grunn, Grant Schumacher, Francesca Anderson, Mark Hoover, Lindy Unger and Jacob Eaton. The movie tells the story of two estranged brothers who get tangled in a rivalry between an eccentric rival and a legendary bank robber at the height of the Great Depression before finding they are a part of a larger historic scheme. Lakeshore Records will release the first soundtrack album for the Prime Video original series Hunters. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second and final season composed by Rupert Gregson-Williams (Aquaman, Wonder Woman, The Gilded Age, Hacksaw Ridge, The Crown, The Legend of Tarzan, Abominable). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, January 13 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Amazon Content Services has previously released Paulina Singer’s Yiddish cover of Kelis’ Milkshake from the new season last Friday. Justin Hurwitz Wins Golden Globe for ‘Babylon’ Score

Justin Hurwitz has received the Golden Globe in the Original Score category for his score for Damien Chazelle’s Babylon at tonight’s 80th Golden Globe Awards ceremony. He previously won the award three times for his score and the song City of Stars from La La Land and his score from First Man. The other composers nominated in the score category were Carter Burwell (The Banshees of Inisherin), Alexandre Desplat (Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio), Hildur Guðnadóttir (Women Talking) and John Williams (The Fabelmans). Hildur Guðnadóttir is returning to score the upcoming psychological thriller Joker: Folie à Deux. The sequel to the 2019 Joker film, for which the composer received her first Academy Award, is directed by Todd Phillips and stars Joaquin Phoenix in the title role, Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn and Zazie Beetz who reprises her role of Sophie Dumond.
