Decca Records will be releasing a soundtrack album for the drama Someday This Pain Will Be Useful to You. The album includes the film’s music by Italian composer Andrea Guerra (The Pursuit of Happyness, Letters to Juliet) with lyrics by Michele Von Büren and performed by Elisa. The soundtrack will be released on April 24, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips will be added to this article soon. Someday This Pain Will Be Useful to You is directed by Roberto Faenza and stars Toby Regbo, Marcia Gay Harden, Peter Gallagher, Lucy Liu, Stephen Lang, Deborah Ann Woll and Ellen Burstyn. Rupert Gregson-Williams has recently scored the upcoming comedy That’s My Boy. The movie is directed by Sean Anders & John Morris (Sex Drive) and stars Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Leighton Meester, James Caan, Susan Sarandon, Milo Ventimiglia and Will Forte. The film centers on a father who moves in with his son on the eve of the young guy’s wedding and begins feuding with the bride. David Caspe (ABC’s Happy Endings) has written the screenplay and David Wain and Ken Marino (Role Models, Wanderlust) perfomed a rewrite.  Sandler is producing the film with Jack Giarraputo (Grown Ups, Click), Heather Parry & Allen Covert (The House Bunny). Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:

Expected to top the weekend box office is Universal Pictures’ and Illumination Entertainment’s animated feature Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. The film features original songs by John Powell and director Cinco Paul. A soundtrack album featuring the movie’s songs has been released on Interscope Records. Check out our previous article for the details and audio clips. Powell has also written the orchestral score for the film. Varese Sarabande has already released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s score digitally and the CD version is set for a release on March 6. Also opening wide is the found footage teen comedy Project X directed by Nima Nourizadeh and produced by Todd Phillips. While there is no original score in the film, the movie features several songs. Watertower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the comedy’s music from artists including Pusha T, AMC, J-Kwon, Far East Movement & Pitbull, Nas, Kid Cudi, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, A-Trak, Dr. Dre & Snoop Dog, Wale, D12, MGK and Shiny Toy Guns. Sony Music will be releasing the official soundtrack album for the French biopic Cloclo. The album includes songs from the movie performed by the film’s title character, as well as Frank Sinatra, Otis Redding and KC & The Sunshine Band among other artists. Also included are more than 15 minutes from the film’s original score written by Academy Award-nominated composer Alexandre Desplat. The album will be released on March 12, 2012 in France. No word yet on a domestic release of the soundtrack or film. Cloclo is directed by Florent Emilio Siri (Hostage) who has worked with Desplat several times before. The movie stars Jérémie Renier as the French singer Claude François who was a star of “chanson française” in the 1960s and 70s and died in a tragic accident in 1978, at the age of 39. Jeremy Sams has signed on to score the upcoming period drama Hyde Park on Hudson. The film directed by Roger Michell (Notting Hill) stars Bill Murray as President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, alongside Laura Linney, Olivia Colman, Samuel West, Elizabeth Marvel, Elizabeth Wilson, Eleanor Bron and Olivia Williams. In the film, the President and his wife host the King and Queen of England for a weekend at the Roosevelt home at Hyde Park on Hudson, in upstate New York – the first-ever visit of a reigning English monarch to America. Richard Nelson has written the screenplay based on his radio play and Michell is producing the film with David Aukin (Mrs. Henderson Presents) and Kevin Loader (Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, In the Loop). ‘Fringe’ Season 3 Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the third season of the FOX sci-fi mystery series Fringe. The album features selections from the score from the show’s 2010-2011 season composed by Chris Tilton. The album will be released on April 3, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The third season of Fringe is available on Blu-Ray and DVD. The fourth season of the drama starring Anna Torv, Joshua Jackson and John Noble currently airs every Friday night on Fox. Ilan Eshkeri has been hired to score the upcoming 3D animated feature Justin and the Knights of Valour. The movie is directed by Manuel Sicilia and centers on an idealistic boy who is determined to become a knight in shining armor, but his magical kingdom is in painful transition to a modern age dominated by bureaucracy. The film’s voice talent includes Freddie Highmore, Antonio Banderas, Saoirse Ronan, Julie Walters, Alfred Molina, Mark Strong, Olivia Williams and Rupert Everett. The film created by the Spanish animation production company Kandor Graphics is produced by Antonio Banderas, Kerry Fulton and Ralph Kamp for Timeless Films. Sicilia co-wrote the script with Matthew Jacobs (The Emperor’s New Groove). The project marks Eshkeri’s first animated feature film. Read the rest of this entry »

Brian Tyler has recently written the music for Universal Pictures‘ new logo to commemorate the studio’s 100th anniversary in 2012. The music is a variation of the theme written by Jerry Goldsmith, which accompanied the most recent version of the logo since 1997 and which replaced an earlier version featuring music by James Horner. La-La Land Records has released a new soundtrack edition for the 1994 action hit film Speed directed by Jan De Bont and starring Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock and Dennis Hopper. The album includes the remastered and expanded score composed by Mark Mancina (Training Day, Con Air). The release presents its tracks in film order and includes the end titles song Speed performed by Billy Idol. Peter Nashel is scoring the upcoming indie drama What Maisie Knew. The project reunites the composer with directors Scott McGehee and David Siegel who previously collaborated on the features The Deep End starring Tilda Swinton, Bee Season starring Richard Gere and most recently, the Joseph Gordon-Levitt starring drama Uncertainty. What Maisie Knew stars Julianne Moore, Alexander Skarsgard, Steve Coogan, Diana Garcia and Joel Garland. The film based on a novel by Henry James and adapted for the screen by Nancy Doyne and Carroll Cartwright (Where the Money Is) centers on 6-year old girl who is caught up in the bitter divorce of her art dealer father and her rock star mother.
