Quartet Records has announced the premiereCD release of the LP programs of the soundtrack albums for two Charles Dickens film adaptations from the 1970s. Titles include the 1970 drama David Copperfield directed by Delbert Mann and starring Robin Phillips, Richard Attenborough, Susan Hampshire, Cyril Cusack, Ralph Richardson, Ron Moody & Laurence Olivier featuring music composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Malcolm Arnold (The Bridge on the River Kwai, The Lion, The Sound Barrier, The Inspector, Hobson’s Choice), as well as 1974’s Great Expectations directed by Joseph Morley and starring Michael York, Sarah Miles, James Mason & Robert Morley feat. music composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Maurice Jarre (Lawrence of Arabia, Ghost, Doctor Zhivago, No Way Out, Witness, Gorillas in the Mist).

Soundtrack Album for FX’s & BBC’s ‘Great Expectations’ TV Series to Be Released
Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack album for the FX and BBC limited series Great Expectations. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Keefus Ciancia (Killing Eve, True Detective, Made for Love, London Spy, Diana, The Motel Life, Nashville, The Fall). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, May 26 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Great Expectations is developed by Steven Knight based on the classic novel by Charles Dickens and stars Fionn Whitehead, Olivia Colman, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Johnny Harris, Ashley Thomas, Owen McDonnell, Trystan Gravelle and Hayley Squires.

Expected to top the weekend box office is the superhero sequel Thor: The Dark World directed by Alan Taylor and starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Kat Dennings, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Anthony Hopkins. Brian Tyler who previously scored Marvel’s Iron Man 3 earlier this year has composed the film’s music. Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score digitally and Intrada Records will release a physical version. Opening in limited release is the period drama The Book Thief directed by Brian Percival and starring Geoffrey Rush, Emily Watson and Sophie Nelisse. The film’s original music is composed and conducted by Academy Award winner John Williams. Sony Classical will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score on November 8. ‘Great Expectations’ Soundtrack Details
Metropolis Movie Music will release a soundtrack album for Mike Newell’s new film adaptation of Great Expectations. The album features the film’s original score composed by Richard Hartley (The Life and Death of Peter Sellers, A Thousand Acres). The album will be released overseas digitally on November 23, 2012 and physically on November 26. To order the CD as an import, visit Amazon. No word yet on a domestic release date. Great Expectations based on Charles Dickens’ famous novel stars Jeremy Irvine as Pip, Helena Bonham Carter as Miss Havisham, alongside Ralph Fiennes, Robbie Coltrane, Ewen Bremner, Jason Flemyng, Sally Hawkins, Tamzin Outhwaite, David Walliams and Holliday Grainger. The movie premiered at this year’s Toronto Film Festival and has been picked up by Outsource Media Group for domestic distribution.

Richard Hartley has composed the score for Mike Newell’s upcoming film adaptation of Great Expectations. The film based on Charles Dickens’ famous novel stars Jeremy Irvine as the young orphan Pip who is given a chance to rise from his humble beginnings thanks to a mysterious benefactor. Helena Bonham Carter co-stars as Miss Havisham, alongside Ralph Fiennes, Robbie Coltrane, Ewen Bremner, Jason Flemyng, Sally Hawkins, Tamzin Outhwaite, David Walliams and Holliday Grainger. David Nicholls (One Day, Starter for 10) has adapted Dickens’ novel for the screen.
