Daniel Licht has been hired to score the Sundance Channel’s upcoming original series The Red Road. The show is created by Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners, Contraband) and stars Martin Henderson, Tom Sizemore, Jason Mamoa and Julianne Nicholson. The drama centers around a local sheriff struggling to keep his family together while simultaneously policing two clashing communities: the small town where he grew up and the neighboring mountains – home of a federally unrecognized Native American tribe. Guzikowski is also executive producing the project with Sarah Condon (Bored to Death, Looking) and Bridget Carpenter (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood). James Gray (The Yards, We Own the Night) has directed the first episode.

Making its U.S. premiere on Thursday, October 31 on the Sundance Channel is the French zombie drama The Returned (Les revenants) created by Fabrice Gobert and starring Anne Consigny, Clotilde Hesme and Guillaume Gouix. The show’s original music is composed by the Scottish post-rock band Mogwai. Sub Pop Music has released an album featuring the band’s score for the show. The eight-part series is set in a French mountain town where a seemingly random group of people find themselves in a state of confusion as they attempt to return to their homes. Premiering tomorrow, April 22, is the drama Rectify created by Ray McKinnon and starring Clayne Crawford, Abigail Spencer, Adelaide Clements, Jonah Lotan and J. Smith Cameron. The show follows a man who is released from Death Row after spending 19 years in prison and returns to his hometown where he must readjust to his new life, including unfamiliar family members and surroundings. Gabriel Mann (Modern Family, Jane by Design) has composed the show’s score, as well as the main titles theme. ‘Restless’ Soundtrack Announced
Endor Productions will release a soundtrack album for the British mini-series Restless. The album features more than 2 hours of the two-part movie’s original music composed by Lorne Balfe (Megamind, Ironclad). The soundtrack will be released on March 12, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are available after the jump. Restless based on a novel by William Boyd (Chaplin) is directed by Edward Hall and stars Hayley Atwell, Rufus Sewell, Michelle Dockery, Michael Gambon and Charlotte Rampling. The mini-series follows a woman who discovers that her mother was recruited as a spy during World War II. The two-parter premiered last December on the BBC in the UK and on the Sundance Channel in the US.
Mark Bradshaw Scoring ‘Top of the Lake’
Mark Bradshaw has been hired to score BBC’s and Sundance Channel’s mini-series Top of the Lake. The seven-part series is helmed by Academy Award-winning director Jane Campion (The Piano) and Australian director Garth Davis and stars Elisabeth Moss, Holly Hunter, Peter Mullan and David Wenham. The drama is set in New Zealand and follows the disappearance of a five-months pregnant 12-year-old girl who was last seen standing chest-deep in a frozen lake. Emile Sherman & Iain Canning (The King’s Speech, Shame) are producing the project for See-Saw Films and Philippa Campbell (Black Sheep) is producing for Escapade Pictures. Campion has written the teleplay with Gerard Lee (Sweetie).

Premiering tonight on ABC is Hallmark Hall of Fame Production’s original movie Christmas With Holly. The film is directed by Allan Arkush (Heroes, Crossing Jordan) and stars Sean Faris, Eloise Mumford, Daniel Eric Gold, Dana Watkins, Catherine Bèrubè, Alex Paxton-Beesley and Lucy & Josie Gallina. Nathan Wang (The Game Plan, She’s the Man) has composed the movie’s score. The film follows a 6-year-old who writes a letter to Santa Claus asking for a mother for Christmas, after her mother passes away. Lorne Balfe is scoring the upcoming mini-series Restless. The two-part movie based on a novel by William Boyd (Chaplin) stars Hayley Atwell, Rufus Sewell, Michelle Dockery, Michael Gambon and Charlotte Rampling. Edward Hall has directed the project and Hilary Bevan Jones (Private Radio, The Girl in the Cafe) and Paul Frift are producing for Endor Productions. William Boyd has also written the teleplay and is executive producing with Matthew Read for BBC and Christian Vesper for Sundance Channel. The mini-series follows a daughter who discovers that her mother was recruited as a spy during World War II. Restless was shot this summer in South Africa and the UK and is set to premiere in the US on December 7, 2012 on the Sundance Channel.

Gabriel Mann has been hired to score the Sundance Channel’s first hourlong scripted series Rectify. The six-part legal drama stars Abigail Spencer, Clayne Crawford, Adelaide Clements, Jonah Lotan and J. Smith Cameron. The show is created by Ray McKinnon (screenwriter of An Evening Sun and actor in FX’s Sons of Anarchy) and follows a man who is released from Death Row after spending 19 years in prison and returns to his hometown where he must readjust to his new life, including unfamiliar family members and surroundings. Mark Johnson (The Chronicle of Narnia series, Rain Man) and Melissa Bernstein (Breaking Bad) are executive producing the project with McKinnon.
