Quartet Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1985 fantasy adventure Santa Claus: The Movie directed by Jeannot Szwarc and starring Dudley Moore, John Lithgow, David Huddleston, Burgess Meredith and Judy Cornwell. The album features the newly remastered original score from the film composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Henry Mancini (Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Pink Panther, Charade, The Thorn Birds), as well as the movie’s original songs written by Mancini and featuring lyrics by Leslie Bricusse. Varese Sarabande has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1983 miniseries The Thorn Birds based on best-selling novel of the same name by Colleen McCullough, directed by Daryl Duke and starring Richard Chamberlain, Rachel Ward, Barbara Stanwyck, Christopher Plummer, Jean Simmons, Piper Laurie, Richard Kiley, Mare Winningham, Bryan Brown and Philip Anglim. The album features the newly remastered Emmy Award nominated score composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Henry Mancini (The Pink Panther, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Santa Claus: The Movie, Charade). New Recording of ‘Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein/the Keystone Kops’ Scores Released
Intrada Records has released the label’s new recordings of the scores for the 1948 horror comedy Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein directed by Charles Barton and starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello, Lon Chaney Jr. & Bela Lugosi and 1955’s Abbott and Costello Meet the Keystone Kops directed by Charles Lamont and starring Abbott, Costello, Fred Clark & Mack Sennett. The album features the music from Meet the Frankenstein composed by Academy Award nominee Frank Sinner (Saboteur, Arabian Nights, The House of the Seven Gables) and Meet the Keystone Kops by William Lava (Looney Tunes, Dracula vs. Frankenstein), Herman Stein (Revenge of the Creature) & Academy Award winner Henry Mancini ((The Pink Panther, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Thorn Birds), newly recorded with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra under the baton of William T. Stromberg. Quartet Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1970 historical drama The Molly Maguires directed by Martin Ritt and starring Sean Connery, Richard Harris, Samantha Eggar and Frank Finlay. The CD features the film’s expanded original score composed and conducted by Henry Mancini (The Pink Panther, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Charade, The Thorn Birds, Santa Claus: The Movie), including around 20 minutes of previously unreleased music, as well as revised and alternate versions. Also included is Charles Strouse’s unused score for the project, which has previously been released as part of an expanded score release by Kritzerland in 2012. Quartet Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1970 “musical” romantic comedy Darling Lili co-written and directed by Blake Edwards and starring Julie Andrews, Rock Hudson, Jeremy Kemp, Lance Percival, Michael Witney and Jacques Marin. The album features the original songs from the film written by Academy Award winner Henry Mancini (Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Pink Panther, The Thorn Birds, Santa Claus: The Movie, Charade, Lifeforce) and featuring lyrics by Johnny Mercer, as well as demos played by Mercer before filming that include two unused songs, as well as instrumental versions of the songs. Also included is the premiere release of Mancini’s complete original underscore from the movie. Mancini & Mercer received two Academy Award nominations (for the original song Whistling Away the Dark and the “song score”). The album features the premiere release of the original film tracks of the comedy’s original score composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Henry Mancini (Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Santa Claus: The Movie, The Thorn Birds, Charade, Lifeforce), the original song It Had Better Be Tonight (Meglio Stasera) written by Mancini & Johnny Mercer and performed by Fran Jeffries, as well as alternate versions and unused music. Also included is a remastered version of the original RCA soundtrack album, which Mancini recorded with new arrangements. La-La Land Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1966 psychological thriller Moment to Moment directed by Mervyn LeRoy and starring Jean Seberg, Honor Blackman, Sean Garrison, Arthur Hill and Grégoire Aslan. The album features the film’s original score composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Henry Mancini (The Pink Panther, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Thorn Birds, Santa Claus: The Movie, Charade). Also included is the movie’stitle song written by Mancini & Johnny Mercer.
