Varese Sarabande has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1983 miniseries The Thorn Birds based on best-selling novel of the same name by Colleen McCullough, directed by Daryl Duke and starring Richard Chamberlain, Rachel Ward, Barbara Stanwyck, Christopher Plummer, Jean Simmons, Piper Laurie, Richard Kiley, Mare Winningham, Bryan Brown and Philip Anglim. The album features the newly remastered Emmy Award nominated score composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Henry Mancini (The Pink Panther, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Santa Claus: The Movie, Charade). The Deluxe Encore Edition soundtrack is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services (including Amazon) and as a limited edition 2-CD set on the label’s official website, where you can also check out the full album details. Varese has previously released the premiere soundtrack album for the epic drama back in 2004. The Thorn Birds is now available on VOD and DVD.
