‘Muscle Shoals’ Soundtrack Announced

muscle-shoalsRepublic Records will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Muscle Shoals. The album includes the songs featured in the film by Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Alicia Keys, Paul Simon, Etta James, Jimmy Hughes, Percy Sledge, and more. The soundtrack will be released physically and digitally on September 24, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Muscle Shoals is directed by Greg “Freddy” Camalier and tells the story of FAME Studios and Muscle Shoals Sound Studios, also known as the birthplace of some of rock ‘n’ roll’s and soul’s most iconic songs, located in Muscle Shoals, AL. The film premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and was picked up by Magnolia Pictures for a domestic release on September 27, 2013, both in theaters and on VOD. clint-mansellClint Mansell is attached to score the upcoming indie drama The Imitation Game. The film is directed by Morten Tyldum (Headhunters, Buddy) and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as a British mathematician and cryptographer who helped crack the German enigma code during the final years of World War II, helping the Allies to victory. Keira Knightley, Mark Strong, Matthew Goode and Charles Dance are co-starring. Graham Moore has written the screenplay based on the book Alan Turing: The Enigma. Teddy Schwarzman (All Is Lost, Broken City) is producing the Black Bear Pictures and Ampersand Pictures production with Nora Grossman and Ido Ostrowsky. Read the rest of this entry »

smash-and-grab30 IPS will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Smash & Grab: The Story of the Pink Panthers. The album features the film’s original music composed by Simon Russell. The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 7, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out after the jump. Smash & Grab: The Story of the Pink Panthers is directed by Havana Marking and centers around the Pink Panthers, the formidable Balkan gang that has stolen nearly a billion dollars worth of jewels from boutiques in the world’s most opulent cities, including Geneva, Paris, London, Dubai and Tokyo. need-for-speedNathan Furst is currently scoring the upcoming racing action movie Need for Speed. The film directed by Scott Waugh is based on the Electronic Arts video game franchise and follows an underground racecar driver who owns a garage that modifies expensive cars to make them faster for racing and is framed and sent to prison when his best friend is murdered during a race. The movie stars Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper, Michael Keaton, Imogen Poots, Kid Cudi, Dakota Johnson, Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malik and Harrison Gilbertson. George Gatins has written the screenplay based on an original story he developed with John Gatins (Flight, Real Steel) who is also producing the DreamWorks Pictures production with Patrick O’Brien and Mark Sourian. rock-the-casbahPathé Production has released a soundtrack album for the French/Moroccan drama Rock the Casbah. The album features the film’s original score composed by Rob (aka Robin Coudert) (Maniac, Populaire, Alexandre Aja’s upcoming Horns). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Rock the Casbah is written and directed by Laila Marrakchi and stars Hiam Abbass, Nadine Labaki, Lubna Azabal, Morjana Alaoui and Omar Sharif. The movie is set in an opulent villa in Tangiers and unfolds over the three days of the rites of mourning dictated by Muslim custom, following the death of a prominent magnate and family patriarch. klondikeRob Lane has been hired to score the upcoming mini-series Klondike. The television event marks Discovery Channel’s first scripted project and stars Sam Shepard, Richard Madden, Abbie Cornish, Ian Hart, Johnny Simmons, Conor Leslie, Tim Roth, Augustus Prew, Marton Csokas and Tim Blake Nelson. The series is based on the novel Gold Diggers: Striking It Rich In The Klondike by Charlotte Gray and tells the story of six strangers and their collective fight for survival and wealth in a small frontier town in the remote Klondike. Simon Cellan Jones is directing the six-hour series from a script by Paul Scheuring (Prison BreakZero Hour), Josh Goldin (Darkman) and Rachel Abramowitz. Read the rest of this entry »

WE ARE MENJohn Swihart has been tapped to score the upcoming CBS comedy We Are Men. The show is created by Rob Greenberg and stars Tony Shalhoub, Jerry O’Connell, Kal Penn, Chris Smith and Rebecca Breeds. The series follows four single guys living in a short-term apartment complex who unexpectedly find camaraderie over their many missteps in love. Greenberg is also executive producing the CBS Television Studios production with Eric and Kim Tannenbaum (Two and a Half Men). Greenberg has previously produced and directed numerous episodes of the CBS hit comedy How I Met Your Mother, which is also scored by Swihart and returns for a ninth and final season this fall. x-files-2La-La Land Records has released a new 4-CD box set for the hit mystery series The X-Files.  The release includes selections from the show’s original score from all nine seasons composed by Mark Snow, for a total of more than 5 hours of music. The set is limited to 3000 copies and  also features a 40-Page CD booklet containing comments from show creator Chris Carter and writer/producers Frank Spotnitz, Glen Morgan and James Wong. The soundtrack is now available to order on La-La Land Records’ website, where you can also listen to audio clips and check out the full track list. The label has previously released another box set featuring the show’s score back in 2011. Click here for the full details. The X-Files created by Chris Carter and starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson aired from 1993 to 2002 on FOX and spun two theatrical movies that were released in 1998 and 2008.

ironsideJames S. Levine is scoring the new NBC cop drama Ironside. The show created by Michael Caleo (The Family, Rescue Me, The Sopranos) is a remake of the classic Golden Globe- and Emmy Award-nominated drama starring Raymond Burr, which aired from 1967 to 1975 and featured a theme by Quincy Jones. The series stars Blair Underwood in the title role as a tough detective who is relegated to a wheelchair after a shooting but continues to pursue difficult cases. Brent Sexton, Pablo Schreiber, Spencer Grammer, Neal Bledsoe and Kenneth Choi are co-starring. Caleo is also executive producing the Universal Television, Yellow Brick Road Productions and Davis Entertainment production with Teri Weinberg (Ugly Betty, The Tudors), John Davis (Predator series, Waterworld, I Robot), John Fox, Ron West (Man Up) and David Semel (No Ordinary Family). flashpoint-paradoxLa-La Land Records has released a soundtrack album for the animated film Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. The album features the movie’s original score composed by Frederik Wiedmann (Green Lantern: The Animated Series). The composer recorded his music with a 30-piece orchestra in Los Angeles. The soundtrack, which is limited to 2000 copies, is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also listen to audio clips. Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox is directed by Jay Oliva (Batman: The Dark Knight Returns), produced by James Tucker (Superman Unbound) and features the voices of Justin Chambers, Kevin McKidd, Michael B.
