Jonathan Goldsmith has recently scored the Lifetime original movie The Grim Sleeper. The film is directed by Stanley M. Brooks and stars Dreama Walker, Macy Gray, Ernie Hudson and Michael O’Neill. The movie tells the true story of an LA Weekly reporter who investigates the unsolved murders of dozens of women in Los Angeles by the alleged serial killer known as the “Grim Sleeper”. Robert Nathan (Law & Order) and Teena Booth (The Drew Peterson Story) have written the script. WaterTower Music (via Deadline) has published a video featurette on the music of the historical action epic 300: Rise of an Empire, which topped the domestic and international box office this past weekend. The video features an interview with the film’s composer Junkie XL (Divergent) who discusses building new instruments for his score, as well footage from the music’s orchestral recording sessions at the Eastwood Scoring Stage at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank. Gabriel Yared is composing the score for the upcoming animated feature The Prophet. The film is written and directed by Roger Allers (The Lion King, Open Season) and features the voice talent of Liam Neeson, Salma Hayek, John Krasinski, Frank Langella, Alfred Molina and Quvenzhané Wallis. The movie is based on the iconic book of the same title by Lebanese poet Kahlil Gibran that is one of the biggest sellers in history. Each chapter of the book is directed by a different award-winning director, including Marjane Satrapi (Persepolis), Tomm Moore (The Secret of Kells), Nina Paley (Sita Sings The Blues) and Paul & Gaetan Brizzi (Fantasia 2000). Premiering tonight on Fox is the docu-series Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey executive produced by Seth MacFarlane, Ann Druyan, Mitchell Cannold & Brannon Braga and hosted by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson. Alan Silvestri (Forrest Gump, Back to the Future, The Avengers) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring selections from the composer’s was released digitally earlier this week. Additional albums are expected to be announced soon. Also premiering tonight is the new ABC drama Resurrection created by by Aaron Zelman and starring Omar Epps, Matt Craven, Devin Kelley, Frances Fisher, Kurtwood Smith, Sam Hazeldine, Samaire Armstrong, Mark Hildreth and Landon Gimenez. The show’s original music is composed by Blake Neely (Arrow, The Mentalist, Everwood, Life As We Know It). The film marks the directorial debut of Jesse Zwick (Parenthood) and stars Aubrey Plaza, Jason Ritter, Max Greenfield, Nate Parker, Maggie Grace, Max Minghella and Jane Levy. The movie follows seven college friends who reunite one long weekend after one of their own attempts suicide. Zwick has also written the screenplay and Adam Saunders (Family Weekend) is producing the Footprint Features production. ‘Grand Piano’ Soundtrack Released

MovieScore Media and Kronos Records have released a soundtrack album for the psychological thriller Grand Piano. The album features the film’s original music composed by Victor Reyes (Buried, Red Lights). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. A CD version is set to be released on March 25, 2014. Audio clips are embedded after the jump. Grand Piano is directed by Eugenio Mira and stars Elijah Wood, John Cusack, Tamsin Egerton, Kerry Bishe, Alex Winter, Don McManus and Allen Leech. The thriller follows a piano virtuoso who returns to perform after being forced into early retirement because of stage fright. ‘Divergent’ Score Album Details

The details of the score album for the film adaptation of the young adult novel Divergent have been revealed. The soundtrack features the film’s original score composed by Junkie XL (300: Rise of an Empire, Paranoia) and executive produced by Hans Zimmer. Ellie Goulding is featured as a vocalist on the score. The album will be released digitally on March 18, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A physical release will be coming out on April 15 and is available to order by clicking here. Check back on this page for audio clips. As previously reported, the label will also release a separate soundtrack featuring the film’s songs. Divergent based on Veronica Roth’s first of a trilogy of novels stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet, Aaron Eckhart, Miles Teller, Zoe Kravitz, Ansel Elgort. Marco Beltrami has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming crime thriller The Drop. The movie, which was previously entitled Animal Rescue, marks the English language feature debut of director Michael R. Roskam (Bullhead) and stars Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, Matthias Schoenaerts, James Gandolfini and John Ortiz. The film follows a lonely Boston bartender who rescues a puppy from a garbage can and becomes the target of the dog’s abusive and mentally unstable former owner. Dennis Lehane has written the screenplay based on his own short story (Mystic River, Shutter Island). Ennio Morricone to Score Giuseppe Tornatore’s ‘The Correspondence’

Ennio Morricone is set to reunite with director Giuseppe Tornatore on the director’s upcoming romantic drama The Correspondence. The movie centers on the love affair between a professor and a younger woman working in the same field. No casting deals have been announced yet, but a well-known male actor is reportedly in talks for the leading role. Arturo Paglia and Isabella Cocuzza (The Best Offer) are producing the Paco Cinematografica and Warner Bros Italy production.
