The film is directed by Simon West (Con Air, The Expendables 2, Tomb Raider) and stars Jason Statham, Sofia Vergara, Stanley Tucci,  Michael Angarano, Dominik Garcia-Lorido, Anne Heche, Jason Alexander, Max Casella, Hope Davis and Milo Ventimiglia. The movie follows a recovering gambler-turned-hired bodyguard working in Vegas who decides to help a friend after she is attacked by the mob but gets in over his head as he seeks revenge. William Goldberg (The Princess Bride, Marathon Man) has written the screenplay based on his novel, which has previously turned into a movie starring Burt Reynolds in 1986. bad-wordsBack Lot Music will release a soundtrack album for Jason Bateman’s indie comedy Bad Words. The album features the film’s original score composed by Rolfe Kent (Sideways, Election, Mean Girls, Up in the Air). The soundtrack will be released on March 18, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Bad Words stars Jason Bateman as a 40-year-old who finds a loophole in the rules of The Golden Quill national spelling bee and decides to cause trouble by hijacking the competition. Rohan Chand, Kathryn Hahn, Allison Janney and Philip Baker Hall are co-starring in Bateman’s directorial feature debut. ennio-morriconeIt was announced today that Ennio Morricone‘s first-ever live performance in Los Angeles that was set for March 20 has been postponed until June 15, 2014 due to a back injury that is preventing the Academy Award-winning composer from traveling overseas. Morricone’s first concert in New York in 7 years that was set to take place at Barclays Center’s Cushman and Wakefield Theatre in Brooklyn on March 23 has been rescheduled to June 13. Tickets to the original performance will be honored at the rescheduled performance and full refund will be issued to ticket buyers who are unable to attend the rescheduled show through the original point of purchase through May 1. It is expected that the Academy-presented  conversation between Morricone and Quentin Tarantino that was set for next Tuesday, March 18 will also be canceled or postponed.

Columbia Records and Madison Gate Records will release the official soundtrack album for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The soundtrack features the film’s original score composed by Hans Zimmer and the Magnificent Six. The composer has created a super band for the project that features Pharrell Williams, Johnny Marr (of The Smiths, Modest Mouse), Michael Einziger (of Incubus), Junkie XL, Andrew Kawczynski and Steve Mazzaro. Also included is the original song It’s On Again by Alicia Keys featuring Kendrick Lamar, written Williams, Keys, Zimmer & Lamar. Also featured on the album are new songs by Williams, The Neighbourhood, LIZ and Alvin Risk, as well as Phosphorescent’s Song for Zula. The soundtrack will be released on April 22, 2014. imageThe details have been revealed of the soundtrack album for Marvel Studios’ sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The album features the film’s original music composed by Henry Jackman (X-Men: First Class, Wreck-It-Ralph, Captain Phillips). Also included is Marvin Gaye’s Trouble Man and a track by Harry James and his Orchestra. The soundtrack will be released on April 1, 2014 by Hollywood Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is directed by Anthony & Joe Russo and stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily Van Camp, Hayley Atwell and Robert Redford. The sequel is set after the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers and follows Steve Rogers/Captain America as he is living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. monsters-dark-continentNeil Davidge has signed on to score the upcoming sci-fi sequel Monsters: Dark Continent. The film is directed by Tom Green (Misfits) and stars Johnny Harris, Sam Keeley and Joe Dempsie. The movie takes place a couple of years after the original film directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) as Infected Zones have spread across the world and US military try to wipe out the monsters. Jay Basu has written the screenplay. Allan Niblo & Jay Richardson (The SweeneyStreetDance) and Ben Pugh & Rory Aitken (Welcome to the Punch) are producing the Vertigo Films production. need-for-speed-scoreVarese Sarabande has announced the details of the score album for the action movie Need for Speed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Nathan Furst who previously scored Act of Valor for the movie’s director Scott Waugh. The soundtrack will be released physically on April 15, 2014. More information about the digital release will be added to this article soon. As previously reported, Interscope Records has released a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the film. Need for Speed starring Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper, Imogen Poots, Scott Mescudi, Ramon Rodriguez, Michael Keaton, Rami Malek, Dakota Johnson and Harrison Gilbertson follows a muscle car mechanic and street racer who gets out of prison determined to settle the score with the man responsible for his false conviction. The movie will be released nationwide on March 14.  Read the rest of this entry »

sum-of-all-fearsLa La-Land Records has released a new soundtrack album for the 2002 thriller The Sum of All Fears directed by Phil Alden Robinson, based on the novel by Tom Clancy and starring Ben Affleck, Morgan Freeman and Liev Schreiber. The album features the film’s expanded and remastered original score composed by Jerry Goldsmith (Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Alien, The Omen), including almost 30 minutes of previously unreleased music, as well as bonus cues. Also featured is the original song If We Could Remember performed by Yolanda Adams, as well as Nessum Dorma from Puccini’s opera Turandot performed by Bruce Sledge and Star-Spangled Banner performed by Arnold McCuller. The soundtrack for the Paramount Pictures production is limited to 3000 copies and is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also listen to audio clips. The 4-minute film introduces the characters of the studio’s upcoming feature Home directed by Tim Johnson (Over the Hedge) and featuring the voices of Steve Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Jim Parsons and Rihanna who is also writing songs for the film.
