Cowboy Junkies member Michael Timmins is composing the original score for the upcoming biographical drama Maudie. The film is directed by Aisling Walsh (Song for a Raggy Boy, Fingersmith) and stars Sally Hawkins, Ethan Hawke, Kate Ross, Zachary Bennett, Gabrielle Rose and Keri Matchett. The movie tells the true story of Maud Lewis, who overcame the physical challenge of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis to become one of Canada’s premier folk artists. Cristal Records will release a soundtrack album for Francois Ozon’s drama Frantz. The album features the film’s original music composed by Philippe Rombi who previously collaborated with the director on such films as Swimming Pool, In the House, Young & Beautiful, Potiche and Angel. Also included the classical pieces from the movie by Chopin and Tchaïkovsky. The soundtrack will be released overseas on September 9, 2016. Frantz is written and directed by Ozon and stars Paula Beer, Pierre Niney, Marie Gruber, Ernst Stötzner, Johann Von Bülow and Anton Von Lucke. The movie is set in a small German town in the aftermath of World War I, where a young woman mourning the death of her fiancé forms a bond with a mysterious Frenchman who has arrived to lay flowers on her beloved’s grave.
