the-mickPremiering tonight is the new Fox comedy The Mick created by John & Dave Chernin (It’s Always Funny in Philadelphia) and starring Kaitlin Olson, Sofia Black-D’Elia, Thomas Barbusca, Jack Stanton, Carla Jimenez and Susan Park. The show’s original music is composed by Jonathan Sadoff (The Meddler, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, Beautiful Creatures). The series revolves around a rash, two-bit hustler from Rhode Island who must assume guardianship of her sister’s three high-maintenance children. Following tonight’s premiere episode, the comedy will air every Tuesday night on Fox. Visit the official show website for updates.

ransomAlso premiering tonight before moving to its regular time slot this coming Saturday is the new drama Ransom created by Frank Spotnitz & David Vainola and starring Luke Roberts, Sarah Greene, Brandon Jay McLaren and Nazneen Contractor. Guillaume Roussel (3 Days to Kill, Outcast, It Boy) is composing the show’s original music. Marco Beltrami to Score James Mangold’s ‘Logan’

loganDirector James Mangold confirmed on Twitter that Marco Beltrami is currently scoring the upcoming Wolverine sequel Logan. The film starring Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant and Dafne Keen follows an an aging Wolverine and Professor X must protect a young female clone of Wolverine from an evil organization led by Nathanial Essex. Simon Kinberg (X-Men:Days of Future Past & Apocalypse, The Martian, Cinderella) and Lauren Shuler Donner (X-Men series, Deadpool, Constantine) are producing the project. No word yet on whether any music composed by Cliff Martinez who was originally hired to score the movie will be featured in the film. Read the rest of this entry »

No new movies are opening nationwide this week.

hidden-figuresPlaying in limited release since this past Sunday before expanding nationwide on January 6 is the drama Hidden Figures directed by Theodore Melfi and starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monáe, Kirsten Dunst, Jim Parsons, Mahershala Ali, Aldis Hodge, Glen Powell and Kevin Costner. The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Gladiator), Pharrell Williams and Benjamin Wallfisch (Lights Out). Columbia Records has released two soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film, as well as the composers’ score. Also click here to check out a video featurette about the music from the movie.

live-by-nightAlso playing in select cities before expanding nationwide on January 13 is the crime drama Live by Night directed by Ben Affleck who also stars in the movie, alongside Sienna Miller, Elle Fanning, Chris Messina,  Zoe Saldana and Chris Cooper. The film’s original music is composed by Harry Gregson-Williams (The Martian, The Chronicles of Narnia, Shrek) who previously scored Affleck’s The Town and Gone Baby Gone. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the original song Moonshine by Foy Vance feat. Kacey Musgraves. CMT’s ‘Sun Records’ to Feature Music by Lyle Workman

The show stars Chad Michael Murray, Billy Gardell, Drake Milligan, Kevin Fonteyne, Christian Lees, Jonah Lees, Trevor Donovan and Kerry Holliday. The drama based on the book written by Floyd Mutrux & Colin Escott is set in Memphis and depicts the rise of musicians including Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash as the burgeoning civil-rights movement grips the nation. Gil Grant (Painkiller Jane) serves as the series’ showrunner and is also executive producing the Thinkfactory Media production with Leslie Greif (Texas Rising, Funny Money), Jayson Dinsmore (Still the King) and Julia Silverton. The movie follows a man whose life is permanently derailed when an ominous pattern of events repeats itself in exactly the same manner every day, ending at precisely 2:22 PM. ‘The Man in the High Castle’ Season 2 Soundtrack Details

high-castleThe full details of the new soundtrack album for Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle have been revealed. The album features selections from the original music of the show’s second season composed by Dominic Lewis (Money Monster, Free Birds, The DUFF). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, December 30 by Varese Sarabande and will be available to download here. The label will also release a CD featuring the show’s music from the first and second seasons in early 2017. Expanded ‘Twister’ Score Album Announced

twisterLa-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1996 hit disaster movie Twister directed by Jan De Bont and starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton. The album features the expanded original score from the Amblin Entertainment production composed by Mark Mancina (Speed, Tarzan, Moana, Bad Boys, Brother Bear, Planes, Training Day), including previously unreleased music. The film is written and directed by Jeff Baena (Life After Beth, Joshy) and stars Alison Brie, Dave Franco, Kate Micucci, Aubrey Plaza, John C. Reilly and Molly Shannon. The movie follows a young servant fleeing from his master who takes refuge at a dysfunctional convent in medieval Tuscany. Plaza is also producing the project with
