Raf Keunen is reuniting with director Michael Roskam (The Drop) on the upcoming crime drama Racer and the Jailbird. The film starring Matthias Schoenaerts and Adèle Exarchopoulos is set against the background of a brutal crime gang in Brussels and centers on a gangster who meets and falls for a young racing driver with very upper-class roots. Roskam also wrote the screenplay with Thomas Bidegain (A Prophet, Rust and Bone) and Noé Debré (Dheepan). Bart Van Langendonck (The Ardennes) is producing the project for Savage Film, alongside Pierre-Ange Le Pogam (Hitman, Grace of Monaco) for Stone Angels. Read the rest of this entry »

Varese Sarabande has announced the latest titles in its CD club series, including a deluxe edition for the 1990 drama Stanley & Iris directed by Martin Ritt and starring Robert DeNiro and Jane Fonda. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by John Williams (Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T. The Extraterrestrial). Also included is the world premiere release of Williams’ score for the 1972 drama Pete ‘N’ Tillie directed by Ritt and starring Walter Matthau and Carol Burnett. HEALTH’s ‘Blue Monday’ from ‘Atomic Blonde’ Released

Back Lot Music has released the song Blue Monday from the upcoming action thriller Atomic Blonde. The cover version of the New Order classic is performed by the rock band HEALTH and is featured in the movie’s first trailer (embedded after the jump). The song is now available as a digital single and can be downloaded on Amazon. Atomic Blonde is directed by David Leitch (John Wick) and stars Charlize Theron, James McAvoy, John Goodman, Til Schweiger, Eddie Marsan, Sofia Boutella and Toby Jones. Premiering tomorrow, March 13, is the documentary Cries from Syria directed by Evgeny Afineevsky. The film’s original music is composed by Martin Tillman (The Ring Two, Last Knights). Diane Warren contributed the original song Prayers for this World, which is performed by Cher and The West Los Angeles Children’s Choir. The movie explores the humanitarian crisis in Syria and the devastating civil war that has defined the country over the last five years. Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans have recently recorded their score for the upcoming documentary LA 92. The film is directed by Dan Lindsay and TJ Martin who received an Academy Award for the 2011 documentary Undefeated and tells the definitive story of the 1992 Los Angeles riots from the inside and from the point of view of those involved, using unseen personal footage and news archives, and testimonies of those who lived through it. The only movie opening nationwide this weekend is the action adventure Kong: Skull Island directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts and starring Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L.
