Dragon’s Domain Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1972 comedy drama Hammersmith Is Out directed by Peter Ustinov and starring Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Ustinov himself, Beau Bridges, Leon Ames, Leon Askin, Anthony Holland and George Raft. The 2-CD set features the film’s complete original score composed and conducted by Dominic Frontiere (The Outer Limits, Chisum, 12 O’Clock High, Hang ‘Em High, Modern Problems, The Stunt Man, The Aviator, The Invaders), including previously unreleased music, on the first disc, and bonus tracks (including unused and alternate cues), as well as the content of the original soundtrack album (released on vinyl by Capitol Records in 1972 and on CD by Quarter Records in 2013). ’12 O’Clock High’ Soundtrack Album Announced
La-La Land Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the classic 60s television series 12 O’Clock High created by Sy Bartlett & Beirne Lay Jr. based on the 1949 feature of the same title and starring Robert Lansing, Frank Overton, Paul Burke, Chris Robinson & Barney Phillips as part of the label’s fourth volume of the Quinn Martin Collection. The soundtrack features selections of the original music from the show composed by Emmy Award winner Dominic Frontiere (The Outer Limits, Chisum, Hang ‘Em High, The Stunt Man, Modern Problems, The Aviator, The Invaders). The 2-CD set is limited to 2,000 copies and is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out the full album details and listen to audio samples.
Dominic Frontiere (1931 – 2017)
Dominic Frontiere has passed away this past Thursday at age 86 in Tesuque, New Mexico. The composer has composed the scores to numerous movies over a five decade-spanning career, including 1980’s The Stunt Man, for which he received a Golden Globe Award, as well as 1994’s Color of Night, for which he also co-wrote the Golden Globe-nominated song The Color of the Night. He received a Primetime Emmy Award for his music direction on 1970’s Swing Out, Sweet Land hosted by John Wayne.
‘Adventures in Babysitting’ Soundtrack Released
Intrada Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1987 action adventure Adventures in Babysitting directed by Chris Columbus and starring Elisabeth Shue, Keith Coogan, Anthony Rapp and Maia Brewton. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Michael Kamen (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, X-Men, Brazil, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon). Also included are four songs by The Grystals, Albert Collins, Edwin Starr and Percy Sledge. Remastered ‘Solaris’ soundtrack announced
La-La-Land Records will release a new and remastered version of Cliff Martinez’ score for Steven Soderbergh’s Solaris. The previous album for the 2002 sci-film starring George Clooney and produced by James Cameron has been out-of-print for a while. The new album will be released on January 18. To pre-order the CD, visit Amazon or order directly from La-La-Land Records later this month where the first 100 copies will be autographed by Martinez.
