Nonesuch Records will release a soundtrack album for Paul Thomas Anderson’s thriller One Battle After Another. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Jonny Grennwood (There Will Be Blood, Phantom Thread, The Power of the Dog, The Master, Inherent Vice, Spencer, Licorice Pizza, You Were Never Really Here). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, September 26 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Also listen to the title track below. One Battle After Another is written and directed by Anderson and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Teyana Taylor, Chase Infiniti, Benicio Del Toro, Regina Hall, Wood Harris and Alana Haim. The movie follows a washed-up revolutionary who exists in a state of stoned paranoia as he scrambles to find his spirited self-reliant daughter who goes missing when his evil nemesis resurfaces after sixteen years.

Jonny Greenwood has confirmed in a recent interview with The Guardian that he has started work on his score for the next (currently untitled) feature directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. The film is written and directed by Anderson (Magnolia, Boogie Nights) and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Alana Haim, Wood Harris, and Chase Infiniti. No plot details have been announced yet. Anderson is also producing the project with Sara Murphy (If Beale Street Could Talk, Never Rarely Sometime Always) and Adam Somner.

Republic Records will release the official soundtrack album for Paul Thomas Anderson’s coming-of-age comedy drama Licorice Pizza. The album features a selection of the songs from the movie by artists including Nina Simone, David Bowie, The Doors, Sonny & Cher, Chuck Berry, Donovan, Paul McCartney, Gordon Lightfoot, Taj Mahal, Mason Williams & others. Also included is a track from the movie’s original score composed by Jonny Greenwood who previously scored the director’s last four features, There Will Be Blood, The Master, Inherent Vice and Phantom Thread. Jonny Greenwood is reteaming with Paul Thomas Anderson on the director’s upcoming, currently untitled drama (known under the working title Soggy Bottom). The film is written and directed by Anderson (Magnolia, Boogie Nights) and stars Bradley Cooper, Cooper Hoffman, Alana Haim, Benny Safdie and Skyler Gisondo. The movie is set in the San Fernando Valley in the 1970s and revolves around a high school student and successful child actor. Anderson is also producing the Ghoulardi Film Company production with Sarah Murphy (If Beale Street Could Talk, Never Rarely Sometimes Always) and JoAnne Sellar (Punch-Drunk Love).

The full details of the soundtrack album for Paul Thomas Anderson’s Phantom Thread have been announced. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jonny Greenwood who previously collaborated with Anderson on There Will Be Blood, The Master and Inherent Vice. The composer recorded his score with the London Contemporary Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The movie starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Lesley Manville and Vicky Krieps is set in the couture world of 1950s London and centers on the life behind the curtain of an uncompromising dressmaker commissioned by royalty and high society. Anderson who also wrote the screenplay is producing the project with JoAnne Sellar (Magnolia, Boogie Nights) and Megan Ellison (Her, Sausage Party, Zero Dark Thirty, Spring Breakers) through her Annapurna Pictures company.

The movie stars Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, Josh Brolin, Benicio Del Toro, Owen Wilson, Jena Malone, Martin Short and Maya Rudolph. The film based on the 2009 novel by Thomas Pynchon is set in 1960s Los Angeles and follows the drug-fueled detective Larry “Doc” Sportello as he investigates the case of a kidnapped girl. Anderson is also producing the project through his Ghoulardi Film Co. alongside JoAnne Sellar (Magnolia, Boogie Nights) and Daniel Lupi (There Will Be Blood). Greenwood’s score will be recorded this month with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London.
‘The Master’ Soundtrack Details
Nonesuch Records has announced the details of the soundtrack for Paul Thomas Anderson’s drama The Master. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jonny Greenwood performed by the London Contemporary Orchestra and AUKSO Chamber Orchestra, as well as four recordings from the post–World War II era in which the film is set by artists including Ella Fitzgerald, Jo Stafford and Helen Forrest. As previously reported, the album is set to be released on September 11, 2012 and is now available on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. The Master starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Josh Close and Fiona Dourif is set to premiere at the Venice and Toronto Film Festival and will be released in the US on September 14 by the Weinstein Company.
