Lightyear Entertainment has released a soundtrack album for the Australian drama Tanna. The album features the film’s original music composed by Antony Partos (Animal Kingdom, The Rover, 99 Homes). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Tanna is directed by Martin Butler & Bentley Dean and stars Marie Wawa, Mungau Dain, Marceline Rofit and Chief Charlie Kahla. The movie, which is one of the five nominees in the Foreign Language Film category at this year’s Academy Awards, tells the story of two young lovers who dared to defy the Vanuatu islanders tradition of arranged marriage and changed the island’s culture as a result. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the animated feature The LEGO Batman Movie directed by Chris McKay and featuring the voices of Will Arnett, Zach Galifianakis, Michael Cera, Rosario Dawson, Jenny Slate and Ralph Fiennes. The film’s original music is composed by Lorne Balfe (Terminator Genisys, Home, Penguins of Madagascar, 13 Hours). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the songs from the movie by DNCE, Cutting Crew, Patrick Stump, Alesso feat. Also opening wide is the action sequel John Wick: Chapter 2 directed by Chad Stahelski and starring Keanu Reeves, Common, Riccardo Scamarcio, Laurence Fishburne, Ruby Rose, Bridget Moynahan, Lance Roddick, Franco Nero, John Leguizamo and Ian McShane. Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, 300) and Joel J. Richard (Quantico) have composed the film’s original music. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack featuring the composers’ score, as well as tracks by Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains, Ciscandra Nostalghia and Le Castle Vania. Comedy Central has released the theme song for the cable networks’s new original series Detroiters. The song written/produced by Distinct Life and performed by 6aamm and is now available to download as a digital single on Amazon. Detroiters is created by Sam Richardson, Tim Robinson, Zach Kanin & Joe Kelly and stars Richardson and Robinson, alongside guest stars including Pat Vern Harris, Lailani Ledesma, Mort Crim, Shawntay Dalon, Andre Belue, Christopher Powell and Jason Sudeikis who also serves as an executive producer. Lin-Manuel Miranda, Sting, Justin Timberlake and 2014 Oscar winner John Legend will perform at the 89th Oscars ceremony, show producers Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd announced today. Auli’i Cravalho will join Miranda to perform his Oscar-nominated song How Far I’ll Go written for Moana. Sting will perform The Empty Chair from Jim: The James Foley Story, the Oscar nominated song he co-wrote with three-time Oscar nominee J. Ralph. Timberlake will perform his Oscar-nominated song Can’t Stop The Feeling from the movie Trolls and Legend will perform both Audition (The Fools Who Dream) and City of Stars from La La Land, music by Justin Hurwitz; lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Walt Disney Records has released the original song Wind in My Hair from the Disney Channel original movie Tangled Before Ever After. The track is performed by Mandy Moore and written by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Enchanted) and lyricist Glenn Slater (Galavant, Home on the Range) who also wrote the songs for Disney’s Tangled. Paramount Music has released a soundtrack album for the horror thriller Rings. The album features the film’s original music composed by Matthew Margeson (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Eddie the Eagle, Kick-Ass 2). Hans Zimmer who scored Gore Verbinski’s original The Ring movie serves as the executive music producer. The Doors guitarist Robby Krieger is writing original songs for the upcoming heist comedy Carter & June. The film is written and directed by Nicholas Kalikow and stars Michael Raymond-James, Samaire Armstrong and Timothy Omundson. The movie tells the story of down-and-out New Orleans con man who tries to pay off a debt to a ruthless strip club owner by piggybacking off of someone else’s bank robbery and immediately gets in way over his head.
