Fernando Velazquez (The Orphanage, The Impossible, A Monster Calls, Crimson Peak, Mama, Devil, Hercules) has composed the original score for the new Showtime limited series Ghosts of Beirut. The show is created by Avi Issacharoff & Lior Raz (Fauda) and stars Dina Shihabi, Dermot Mulroney, Garret Dillahunt, Iddo Goldberg, Hisham Suleiman, Amir Khoury and Rafi Gavron. The 4-part spy drama, which features an innovative narrative approach augmented by journalistic research and documentary elements, reveals the origins of 21-year old Mughniyeh (aka “The Ghost”) who emerged from obscurity and was responsible for more American deaths than any other individual prior to 9/11.

The film is directed by Greg Barker (Manhunt: The Inside Story of the Hunt for Bin Laden, The Final Year) is a companion piece to the final season of Showtime’s Homeland and centers on the human stories and drama behind America’s involvement in Afghanistan, now the longest war in U.S. history. The movie will unpack the CIA’s long and morally complicated history in Taliban from the 1980s to the present through first-hand accounts of CIA officers and other U.S. key officials.

The film is directed by Greg Barker (The Final Year) and stars Wagner Moura, Ana De Armas, Garret Dillahunt, Will Dalton, Clemens Schick and Brían F. O’Byrne. The biographical drama tells the true story of Sergio Vieira de Mello, a Brazilian-born UN diplomat who relished hot spots and war zones where he used his charm, good looks and negotiating skills to save lives.
