Fernando Velazquez (The Impossible, The Orphanage, Mama, Crimson Peak, A Monster Calls, Devil) has composed the original music for the upcoming Netflix original movie Sergio. The film is directed by Greg Barker (The Final Year) and stars Wagner Moura, Ana De Armas, Garret Dillahunt, Will Dalton, Clemens Schick and Brían F. O’Byrne. Craig Borten (Dallas Buyers ClubThe 33) wrote the screenplay based on Samantha Power’s biography, Chasing the Flame: Sergio Vieira de Mello and the Fight to Save the World. Moura is also producing the project with Brent Travers and Daniel Dreifuss (No). Velazquez has previously scored the Dreifuss-produced feature GuernicaSergio will premiere later this year on Netflix.

Velazquez has also several Spanish movies coming up, including Marina Seresesky’s La nunca visto, Daniel Calparsoro’s El silencio de la ciudad blanca, Fernando González Molina’s Legado en los huesos and Ofrenda a la tormenta. The composer is also attached to score the action adventure Corto Maltese directed by Christophe Gans (Silent Hill, Brotherhood of the Wolf) and starring Tom Hughes, Mila Jovovich, James Thierrée and Mark Dacascos. The movie follows the title character, created by comic book author and novelist Hugo Pratt, who has been hired by a Chinese revolutionary group, The Red Lanterns, to hijack the armored train of the Russian Emperor Tsar Nicolas II that is transporting his gold from Saint Petersburg to Vladivostok. No production start date has been confirmed yet for the film.
