Hildur Guðnadóttir has won her first Grammy Award for her score for the HBO limited series Chernobyl in the Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media category. The composer has previously received an Emmy Award for her work on the show. In the Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media, Natalie Hemby, Lady Gaga, Hillary Lindsey & Aaron Raitiere won the award for the song I’ll Never Love Again from A Star Is Born. Premiering on Thursday, January 30, is the Netflix limited series The Stranger created by Harlan Coben and starring Richard Armitage, Siobhan Finneran, Jennifer Saunders, Hannah John-Kamen, Anthony Head and Stephen Rea. Dan Levy was honored in the Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated Feature Production category for the music from Netflix’s I Lost My Body. Three new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Opening in most theaters is the horror thriller The Turning directed by Floria Sigismondi and starring Mackenzie Davis, Finn Wolfhard, Brooklynn Prince and Joely Richardson. The film’s original score is composed by Nathan Barr (True Blood, Hostel, The Americans, Carnival Row).
