Hildur Guðnadóttir has won her first Grammy Award for her score for the HBO limited series Chernobyl in the Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media category. The composer has previously received an Emmy Award for her work on the show. In the Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media, Natalie Hemby, Lady Gaga, Hillary Lindsey & Aaron Raitiere won the award for the song I’ll Never Love Again from A Star Is Born. The Bradley Cooper-directed movie also won the prize in the Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Visual Media category.

Hildur Guðnadóttir has won her first Emmy Award for her score for the episode Please Remain Calm of the HBO limited series Chernobyl in the Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited Series, Movie or a Special category at tonight’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony at the Microsoft Theatre LA LIVE in Downtown Los Angeles. In the Original Main Title Theme Music category, Nicholas Britell received his first Emmy Award for his main titles theme from HBO’s Succession. Ramin Djawadi was honored with his second Primetime Emmy Award for his score for the episode The Long Night from HBO’s Game of Thrones in the Music Composition for a Series category.
‘Chernobyl’ Soundtrack Album Details
The details of the full soundtrack album for the HBO limited series Chernobyl have been revealed. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Hildur Gudnadottir (Joker, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Mary Magdalene, Strong Island). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, May 31 by Deutsche Grammophon and will be available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. The label has previously released the composer’s main theme as a digital single earlier this month. Hildur Gudnadottir to Score HBO’s & Sky’s ‘Chernobyl’
Hildur Gudnadottir has been tapped to score the upcoming HBO and Sky mini-series Chernobyl. The show is created by Craig Mazin (The Hangover: Part II & III), directed by Johan Renck (Downloading Nancy) and stars Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgard and Emily Watson. The 5-part drama centers on the 1986 nuclear disaster that triggered the evacuation of a Ukranian city from the perspectives of Valery Legasov, the Soviet scientist chosen by the Kremlin to investigate the accident and Boris Shcherbina, the man responsible for leading the USSR government commission in the wake of the disaster.
Jóhann Jóhannsson Revealed as Original Composer for Marc Forster’s ‘Christopher Robin’
Jóhann Jóhannsson‘s manager Tim Husom revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that the composer had signed on to score Disney’s upcoming fantasy drama Christopher Robin before he passed away last week. The film directed by Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, World War Z) and starring Ewan McGregor & Hayley Atwell tells the story of Robin, the little boy from the Winnie the Pooh series, who is now all-grown-up and lost all sense of imagination. The movie is currently set to be released on August 3, 2018. Jóhannsson was also set to score the upcoming HBO mini-series Chernobyl as revealed by the project’s creator Craig Mazin last week.
