Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the family comedy Dolittle directed by Stephen Gaghan and starring Robert Downey Jr., Antonio Banderas, Michael Sheen, Jim Broadbent, Jessie Buckley, John Cena, Harry Collett, Rami Malek, Kumail Nanjiani and Octavia Spencer. The film’s original music is composed by Danny Elfman (Batman, Spider-Man, Alice in Wonderland). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as an original song by Sia. Click here for more information.

Also opening wide is the action comedy Bad Boys for Life directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah and stars Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Paola Nunez and Joe Pantoliano. Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The LEGO Batman Movie, His Dark Materials, Genius) has composed the film’s original score. Epic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie (click here for the full details). A score album is set to be released next Friday, January 24. Adem Ilhan Scoring HBO’s ‘Avenue 5’

Adem Ilhan is the composer of the new HBO original series Avenue 5. The show is created by Armando Iannucci (Veep, The Death of Stalin) and stars Hugh Laurie, Josh Gad, Zach Woods, Rebecca Front, Suzy Nakamura, Lenora Crichlow, Nikki Amuka-Bird and Ethan Phillips. The comedy is set 40 years in the future and revolves around the confident and suave captain of a space cruise ship with luxury amenities like gourmet buffets, a spa, an observation deck and yoga classes. Charlotte Lawrence’s Original Song ‘Joke’s on You’ from ‘Birds of Prey’ Released

Atlantic Records has released the original song Joke’s on You from the superhero movie Birds of Prey. The track is co-written by the film’s composer Daniel Pemberton and Imad Royal and performed by Charlotte Lawrence. Alex Somers Scoring Apple TV+ Short ‘Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth’

Apple TV+ announced today the Alex Somers (Captain Fantastic, Honey Boy, Aloha, Manhattan) has composed the original score for the upcoming animated short Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth. The film is directed by Philip Hunt, narrated by Meryl Streep and features the voices of Chris O’Dowd, Jacob Tremblay and Ruth Negga. The short based on the New York Times bestselling book of the same title by Oliver Jeffers follows a precocious seven-year-old who, over the course of Earth Day, learns about the wonders of the planet from his parents – and from a mysterious exhibit at the Museum of Everything. ‘Dolores Claiborne’ Deluxe Edition Soundtrack Announced

Varese Sarabande has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1995 thriller Dolores Claiborne directed by Taylor Hackford and starring Kathy Bates, Jennifer Jason Leigh and David Strathairn. The 2-CD set features the expanded original score from the Castle Rock Entertainment production composed by Danny Elfman (Batman, Spider-Man, Alice in Wonderland, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), including almost an hour of previously unreleased music. Dolores Claiborne – The Deluxe Edition is limited to 2,500 copies and is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out the full track list and listen to audio samples. Soundtrack Album for Discovery’s & BBC’s ‘Serengeti’ Released

A soundtrack album has been released for the Discovery & BBC docu-series Serengeti. The album features the film’s original music produced and composed by Will Gregory (Nowhere Boy, My Summer of Love) and performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra, as well as additional music & vocals by Cathy Dennis, Lola Lennox and Joshua Ledet. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out audio clips. Seregenti is created by Simon Fuller, directed by John Downer, narrated by Lupita Nyong’o and follow a cast of African wildlife, including lions, zebras, baboons and cheetahs, over the course of a year. The album features the film’s original music composed and produced by James Edward Barker (Lean on Pete, Final Score, The Courier, Heist). Bear McCreary (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, The Walking Dead, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Outlander, Battlestar Galactica) has composed the original music for the upcoming documentary Crip Camp. The film is directed by Nicole Newnham (The Rape of Europa) & Jim LeBrecht and centers on a group of campers turned activists who shaped the future of the disability-rights movement and changed accessibility legislation for everyone. Newnham & LeBrecht are also producing the project with Sara Bolder. Barack & Michelle Obama who produced last year’s Netflix documentary American Factory serve as executive producers. Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the coming-of-age thriller Knives and Skin. The album features the film’s original music composed by Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner. Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack album for the BBC and FX limited series A Christmas Carol. The album features original music from the 3-parter composed by Academy Award nominees Dustin O’Halloran (Transparent, Like Crazy) & Volker Bertelmann (Adrift, Patrick Melrose) who have previously co-scored the features Lion and The Art of Racing in the Rain. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, January 17 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon. A Chrismas Carol is written by Steven Knight based on Charles Dickens’ iconic ghost story, directed by Nick Murphy and stars Guy Pearce as Ebenezer Scrooge, Andy Serkis as Ghost of Christmas Past, as well as Stephen Graham, Charlotte Riley, Joe Alwyn, Vinette Robinson, Jason Flemyng and Kayvan Novak.
