Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album for the Starz original series Flesh and Bone. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Dave Porter (Breaking Bad, The Blacklist, Better Call Saul). The soundtrack will be released on January 15, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Flesh and Bone is created by Moira Walley-Beckett and stars Sarah Hay, Irina Dvorovenko, Sascha Radetsky, Raychel Diane Weiner, Emily Tyra and Damon Herriman. The series follows a talented but emotionally troubled dancer, joins a company in New York City and soon finds herself immersed in the tough and often cutthroat world of professional ballet.

Premiering tonight is the Nat Geo event series Saints & Strangers directed by Paul A. Edwards and starring Raoul Trujillo, Vincent Kartheiser, Ray Stevenson, Anna Camp, Ron Livingston, Natascha McElhone, Kalani Queypo, Tatanka Means, Brian F. O’Byrne, Barry Sloane and Michael Jibson. The 2-parter’s main theme is composed by Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Pirates of the Carribbean, Inception) and the series’ music is written by Lorne Balfe (Terminator Genisys, 13 Hours: The Soldiers of Benghazi). Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack EP featuring the composers’ music. Check out our previous news article for the full details. A CD version is set for release in December.
‘Saints & Strangers’ Soundtrack EP Released
Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack EP for the NatGeo event series Saints & Strangers. The EP features the 2-parter’s theme composed by Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Gladiator, Inception, The Lion King, Interstellar), as well as music from the series by Lorne Balfe (Terminator Genisys, Home, Penguins of Madagascar). ‘The Lion Guard’ Soundtrack Announced
Walt Disney Records will release a soundtrack album for the Disney Television Animation series The Lion Guard. The album features the opening song written and performed by Beau Black, as well as the songs performed by the series’ voice cast. Chris Willis is composing the show’s original score. The soundtrack will be released on January 8, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Lion Guard developed by Ford Riley continues the story of Disney’s animated classic The Lion King and features the voices of Rob Lowe, Gabrielle Union, James Earl Jones, Max Charles, Atticus Shaffer and Sarah Hyland. The show will centers on the second-born cub of Simba and Nala as he assumes the role of leader of the Lion Guard, a group of the bravest and brightest tasked with preserving the Pride Lands.
‘Downton Abbey’ Ultimate Collection Soundtrack Announced
Decca Classics will release a new soundtrack album for the hit drama Downton Abbey. The album features music all six seasons of the show written by Emmy Award-winning composer John Lunn (The Last Kingdom, Grantchester, The White Queen). The Ultimate Collection will be released as a 2-CD set on December 4, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Downton Abbey is created by Julian Fellowes and stars Samantha Bond, Hugh Bonneville, Jessica Brown Findlay, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle, Tom Cullen, Michelle Dockery, Kevin Doyle, Siobhan Finneran, Michael Fox, Joanne Froggatt, Matthew Goode, Thomas Howes and Lily James. The period drama aired over the last five years in the UK on ITV and in the U.S. on PBS.
Jeff Grace to Score SundanceTV’s ‘Hap and Leonard’
Jeff Grace has been tapped to score the upcoming SundanceTV original series Hap and Leonard. The show is created by Jim Mickle & Nick Damici and stars James Purefoy, Michael Kenneth Williams and Christina Hendricks. The drama is set in 1980s East Texas and centers on Hap Collins, a white working-class ex-con, and Leonard Pine, an openly gay, black Vietnam vet with anger issues. Mickle and Damici are also executive producing the Sundance Studios production with Nick Shumaker (Another Earth) and Jeremy Platt (The Violent Kind). Grace has previously collaborated with Mickle on his last three features, Stake Land, We Are What We Are and Cold in July.
Weekly TV Music Roundup (November 15, 2015)
Premiering tonight is the AMC original series Into the Badlands created by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar and starring Daniel Wu, Marton Csokas, Aramis Knight, Emily Beecham, Sarah Bolger and Orla Brady. The show’s original music is composed by David Shephard (Longmire). Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda has written the drama’s title theme. Premiering on Tuesday, November 17, is the new NBC drama Chicago Med created by Michael Brandt & Derek Haas and starring Oliver Platt, S. Epatha Merkerson, Nick Gehlfuss, Yaya DaCosta, Colin Donnell, Torrey DeVitto and Rachel DiPillo. Atli Orvarsson (Vantage Point, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones) who is also scoring NBC’s Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. is composing the show’s original music. Mick Giacchino Scoring Lifetime’s ‘Jim Henson’s Turkey Hollow’
Mick Giacchino, son of Academy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino (Up, Lost, Star Trek, Inside Out), has composed the music for the Lifetime original movie Jim Henson’s Turkey Hollow. The film is directed by Kirk Thatcher (It’s a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie) and stars Mary Steenburgen, Jay Harrington, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Graham Verchere and Genevieve Buechner. The movie follows a family who goes on a hunt for a Bigfoot-like creature called the Howling Hoodoo during a visit to the house of their kooky aunt. Christopher Baldi and Tim Burns (An American Werewolf in Paris) wrote the script based on a story by Jim Henson, Jerry Juhl and Thatcher.
Giorgio Moroder to Score USA’s ‘Queen of the South’
Giorgio Moroder revealed in a recent interview with Celluloid Tunes that he will be composing the music for the upcoming USA original series Queen of the South. The show is created by M.A. Fortin & Joshua John Miller (The Final Girls) and stars Alice Braga, Peter Gadiot, Carlos Gomez, Justina Machado and Joaquim de Almeida.. The drama centers on a woman whose drug-dealing boyfriend is unexpectedly murdered in Mexico and is forced to go on the run and seek refuge in America, where she teams with an unlikely figure from her past to bring down the leader of the very drug trafficking ring that has her on the run.
Score Album for Hulu’s ‘Casual’ Announced
Lakeshore Records will release a score album for the Hulu original series Casual. The album features the original music from the show’s first season composed by Mateo Messina (Juno, Butter, The Angriest Man in Brooklyn, Barely Lethal), as well as additional music by Rolfe Kent (Sideways, Up in the Air, Thank You for Smoking, Labor Day). The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 27, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A physical release is set to come out in early 2016. Casual is created by Zander Lehmann and stars Tommy Dewey, Michaela Watkins and Tara Lynn Barr. The show is executive produced by Jason Reitman and centers on a dysfunctional family with a bachelor brother and his newly divorced sister who coach each other through the world of dating while living under the same roof again and raising a teenager.
