Decca Records will release the official soundtrack album for the period drama Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale. The album features the film’s original music composed by Emmy Award winner John Lunn (The Last Kingdom, The White Queen, Jamestown, Belgravia, The White Princess) who has previously scored all episodes of the Downton Abbey TV series, as as well as 2019’s first feature and the 2022 sequel Downton Abbey: A New Era. Decca Records will release the official soundtrack album for the drama Downton Abbey: A New Era. The album features the film’s original music composed by Emmy Award winner John Lunn (The Last Kingdom, Jamestown, Grantchester, Shetland, Belgravia) who previously scored the first Downton Abbey movie and all episodes of the TV series and recorded his score with the Chamber Orchestra of London. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, April 29 and will be available to stream/download here. A CD version is available to order as an import on Amazon. Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi drama Ad Astra directed by James Gray and starring Brad Pitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, Liv Tyler and Donald Sutherland. The film’s original music is composed by Max Richter (The Leftovers, Mary Queen of Scots, Hostiles, Waltz with Bashir). Deutsche Grammophon has released a digital single featuring a track of the composer’s score (click here for more details). Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The Lego Batman Movie) is credited as additional music composer (click here to listen to a track from Balfe’s score).
Also opening wide is the action movie Rambo: Last Blood directed by Adrian Grunberg and starring Sylvester Stallone, Paz Vega, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Adrianna Barraza, Yvette Monreal, Genie Kim, Joaquin Cosio and Oscar Jaenada. Brian Tyler (Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Fast & Furious, Crazy Rich Asians) who has previously scored 2008’s Rambo has composed the film’s original music. Decca Classics will release a new soundtrack album for the hit drama Downton Abbey. The album features music all six seasons of the show written by Emmy Award-winning composer John Lunn (The Last Kingdom, Grantchester, The White Queen). The Ultimate Collection will be released as a 2-CD set on December 4, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Downton Abbey is created by Julian Fellowes and stars Samantha Bond, Hugh Bonneville, Jessica Brown Findlay, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle, Tom Cullen, Michelle Dockery, Kevin Doyle, Siobhan Finneran, Michael Fox, Joanne Froggatt, Matthew Goode, Thomas Howes and Lily James. The period drama aired over the last five years in the UK on ITV and in the U.S. on PBS.
Javier Navarrete, Paul Englishby and John Lunn Win Emmy Awards
The Creative Arts Emmy Awards were handed out this afternoon at the NOKIA Theatre LA LIVE in downtown Los Angeles. Javier Navarrete won his first Emmy Award for his score for HBO’s original movie Hemingway & Gellhorn in the Music Composition for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special (Original Dramatic Score) category. John Lunn received the award for his music for Downtown Abbey in the Outstandig Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) category. Paul Englishby also received his first Emmy in the Outstanding Main Title Theme Music category for his theme for BBC’s Page Eight directed by David Hare and starring Bill Nighy, Rachel Weisz and Ralph Fiennes.
