John Debney and Josh Debney are composing the original score for the upcoming Netflix original series Santa Clarita Diet. The show is created by Victor Fresco (Better Off Ted) and stars Drew Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant, Liv Hewson and Skyler Gisondo. The comedy follows a married couple who are leading vaguely discontented lives in the L.A. suburb of Santa Clarita with their teenage daughter until the wife goes through a dramatic change sending their lives down a road of death and destruction. Fresco, Barrymore and Olyphant are also executive producing the project with Aaron Kaplan, Tracy Katsky (Mr. Robinson), Chris Miller & Ember Truesdell (Animal).

Nathan Barr Scoring AMC’s ‘The Son’
Nathan Barr is scoring the upcoming AMC original series The Son. The show is created by Philipp Meyer, Lee Shipman & Brian McGreevy and stars Pierce Brosnan, Jacob Lofland, David Wilson Barnes, Jess Weixler, Henry Garrett, Elizabeth Frances, Zahn McClarnon, Paola Nunez, James Parks, Carlos Bardem and Sydney Lucas. The drama is based on Meyer’s novel of the same title and revolves a Texas family’s and rise and fall over multiple generations, concurrent with America’s birth as a superpower. The creators are also executive producing the AMC Studios and Sonar production with showrunner Kevin Murphy (Defiance, Caprica).
‘Sherlock’ Season 4 Soundtrack Details
The full details of the latest soundtrack album for the BBC original series Sherlock have been announced. The album features the original music from the show’s fourth season composed by David Arnold (Independence Day, Casino Royale, Stargate, Shaft, Tomorrow Never Dies) and Michael Price (The Inbetweeners 2). Included is the music from all three episodes, The Six Thatchers and The Lying Detective, which has already been released digitally, as well as the score from The Final Problem, which is being released digitally today and is now available to download on Amazon. The soundtrack will be released this Friday, January 27 by Silva Screen Records and is now available as an import here.

Premiering tonight is the mini-series The Young Pope created and directed by Paolo Sorrentino and starring Jude Law, Diane Keaton, Silvio Orlando, Javier Cámara, Scott Shepherd, Cécile de France, Ludivine Sagnier, Toni Bertorelli and James Cromwell. The show’s original music is composed by Lele Marchitelli (The Great Beauty). Warner Music has released a soundtrack album featuring selections from the composer’s score, as well as tracks by Jeff Buckley, Max Richter, John Adams, Jefferson Airplane & more. Martin Phipps (Woman in Gold, War and Peace, Peaky Blinders) and Ruth Barrett (Harry Brown, City of Tiny Lights, Hunted) have composed the show’s original music. Dubois Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score earlier this week. ‘Sneaky Pete’ Main Title Theme Song ‘Harder Out Here’ Released
Madison Gate Records has released the main title theme song for the new Amazon original series Sneaky Pete. The track, entitled Harder Out Here, is performed by The Bright Light Social Hour. The song is now available to download on Amazon. Sneaky Pete is created by David Shore & Bryan Cranston and stars Giovanni Ribisi, Marin Ireland, Margo Martindale, Shane McRae, Libe Barer and Peter Gerety. The show follows an ex-convict conman who takes cover from his past by assuming the identity of his former cellmate, and gets roped into the family’s bail bond business. The drama’s first season premiered today and is now available to stream on Amazon.
Alex Ebert to Score Showtime’s ‘I’m Dying Up Here’
Alex Ebert has been tapped to score the upcoming Showtime original series I’m Dying Up Here. The show is created by Dave Flebotte (Just Before I Go) and stars Melissa Leo, Ari Graynor, Clark Duke, Michael Angarano, Andrew Santino, Erik Griffin, RJ Cyler, Al Madrigal and Jake Lacy. The comedy based on the non-fiction book of the same title by William Knoedelseder is set in L.A.’s famed ‘70s stand-up comedy scene and follows a brassy comedy club owner who mentors up-and-coming comedians with tough love. Flebotte is also executive producing the project with Jim Carrey, Michael Aguilar (The Crazies, What Happens in Vegas) and Christina Wayne (Copper).
Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross Scoring PBS’ ‘The Vietnam War’
PBS announced today that Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are composing the music for the upcoming docu-series The Vietnam War. The 10-parter directed by Ken Burns (Brooklyn Bridge, The Statue of Liberty) and Lynn Novick (Frank Llyod Wright) also features new music arranged and performed by cellist Yo-Yo Ma and The Silk Road Ensemble. Additional music in the show was composed by David Cieri and Doug Wamble, both of whom are longtime collaborators with Florentine Films. Also featured in the series are more than 120 popular songs by artists including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Simon & Garfunkel, Janis Joplin, Ben E. King, Donovan, Johnny Cash & more.
Soundtrack for ITV’s & PBS’ Victoria’ Released
Dubois Records has released a soundtrack album for the ITV limited series Victoria. The album features the show’s original music composed by Martin Phipps (Woman in Gold, War and Peace, The Keeping Room, Peaky Blinders) and Ruth Barrett (Harry Brown, City of Tiny Lights, Hunted) with vocals from the Mediaeval Baebes choir. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Victoria is created by novelist Daisy Goodwin and stars Jenna Coleman, Rufus Sewell, Alex Jennings, Paul Rhys, Tom Hughes and Peter Firth. The 8-part series follows the early life of Queen Victoria, from her accession to the throne at the age of 18 through to her courtship and marriage to Prince Albert.
Netflix Premieres ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ Theme Song
Netflix has published the main titles sequence for its new original series A Series of Unfortunate Events. The title song is performed by Neil Patrick Harris, written by Nick Urata and features lyrics by Daniel Handler aka Lemony Snicket. Check out the full titles sequence after the jump. James Newton Howard has composed the music for the show’s first episodes and Chris Bacon is credited as the composer on several subsequent episodes. Urata was originally set to score the full season as reported last year. A Series of Unfortunate Events is based on the book series by Snicket and stars Neil Patrick Harris, Malina Weissman, Louis Hynes, Aasif Mandvi, K. Todd Freeman and Patrick Warbutton as Snicket himself.
‘The Man in the High Castle’ Seasons 1 & 2 Soundtrack Details
The details of the 2-CD soundtrack album for the Amazon original series The Man in the High Castle have been revealed. The album features selections of the show’s original music from the first season composed by Henry Jackman (Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Civil War, Wreck-It-Ralph, Big Hero 6, X-Men: First Class) and Dominic Lewis (Free Birds, Money Monster) on the first disc and music from the second season by Lewis on the second disc. The 2-CD set will be released on February 24, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A digital version of the first season album will be released digitally tomorrow exclusively on Amazon and the second season album has already been released digitally (click here to download).
