Jeff Russo (Fargo, Star Trek: Discovery, Legion, Snowfall, The Night Of) is the new composer of the Netflix original series Santa Clarita Diet. The composer has scored the second season of the show created by Victor Fresco and starring Drew Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant, Liv Hewson and Skyler Gisondo. The comedy follows a married couple leading vaguely discontented lives in the L.A. suburb of Santa Clarita with their teenage daughter until the wife goes through a dramatic change sending their lives down a road of death and destruction.

ABC’s ‘Alex, Inc.’ to Feature Music by Rob Simonsen & Duncan Blickenstaff
Rob Simonsen & Duncan Blickenstaff are composing the original score for the new ABC comedy Alex, Inc. The show is developed by Matt Tarses and stars Zach Braff, Michael Imperioli, Tiya Sircar, Hillary Anne Matthews, Elisha Henig and Audyssie James. The series follows a successful radio producer as he navigates the crazy world of start-ups while trying to keep his marriage to his public defender wife and family a priority.
‘One Strange Rock’ Soundtrack Announced
National Geographic and Lakeshore Records have announced a soundtrack album for the docu-series One Strange Rock. The album features the show’s original music composed by Daniel Pemberton (Steve Jobs, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., All the Money in the World, Molly’s Game, The Counselor). The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 30, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. One Strange Rock show is executive produced by Darren Aronofsky & Jane Root, hosted by Will Smith and tells the extraordinary story of Earth, told from the only people who have ever left it: astronauts. The 10-part series, which was filmed across 45 countries, on six continents and from outer space, reveals the twists of fate that have allowed life to emerge, survive and thrive on Earth.
Soundtrack Album for BBC’s ‘Shetland’ Announced
Silva Screen Records has announced a soundtrack album for the BBC drama series Shetland. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Emmy Award winner John Lunn (Downton Abbey, The Last Kingdom, The White Queen, The White Princess). Germaine Franco to Score Jeff Tomsic’s ‘Tag’
Germaine Franco has been hired to score the upcoming comedy Tag. The film is directed by Jeff Tomsic and stars Ed Helms, Jeremy Renner, Hannibal Buress, Annabelle Wallis, Isla Fisher, Jake Johnson, Jon Hamm, Rashida Jones and Leslie Bibb. The movie is based on a true story featured in the Wall Street Journal about a group of friends who have been playing a no-holds-barred version of the children’s game Tag for the last 30 years. Mark Steilen and Rob McKittrick have written the screenplay. Steilen is also producing the New Line Cinema production with Todd Garner (Knight and Day, Paul Blart: Mall Cop).
Kurt Farquhar to Score CBS’ ‘Welcome to the Neighborhood’
Kurt Farquhar has announced that he will be scoring the new CBS comedy pilot Welcome to the Neighborhood. The show is created by Jim Reynolds (The Big Bang Theory), directed by James Burrows (Will & Grace) and stars Josh Lawson, Tichina Arnold, Cedric the Entertainer, Christian Camargo, Sheaun McKinney and Marcel Spears. The pilot follows the nicest guy in the Midwest, who moves his family into a tough neighborhood in L.A. where not everyone appreciates his extreme neighborliness. Reynolds is also executive producing the project with Aaron Kaplan (The Chi, Life in Pieces), Dana Honor & Wendi Trilling (9KL), Cedric and Eric Rhone (Code Name: The Cleaner, The Honeymooners).
Soundtrack Album for ‘Nox’ Mini-Series Released
Gaumont Television has released a soundtrack album for the French mini-series Nox. The album features the show’s original music composed by Cyrille Aufort (A Royal Affair, Splice, Ombline, March of the Penguins 2, Past Life). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out the track list and listen to audio samples. Nox created by Fred Cavayé (Point Blank), Quoc Dang Tran & Jérôme Fansten, directed by Mabrouk El Mechri (JCVD, The Cold Light of Day) and stars Nathalie Baye, Maiwenn and Malik Zidi. The crime thriller follows a retired cop who was forced out because of her rebellious personality and has to step back in when her daughter disappears in Paris’ vast underground tunnels.
Brian Tyler’s ‘Formula 1’ Theme Released
The new Formula 1 theme composed by Brian Tyler (Fast & Furious, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3, Now You See Me, The Mummy, Thor: The Dark World) has been released as a digital single. The composer recorded the theme with the Philharmonia Orchestra a few weeks ago at AIR Studios in London. Visit Amazon to download the track. The piece was reportedly commissioned by F1’s David Hill and will be featured on the new F1 OTT service that was announced earlier this month.

Premiering tonight is the new CBS drama Instinct created by Michael Rauch and starring Alan Cumming, Bojana Novakovic, Daniel Ings, Naveen Andrews and Sharon Leal. The show’s original music is composed by James S. Levine (Glee, Nip/Tuck, Damages, Star, The Last Ship, Bloodline, Major Crimes). Sony Masterworks will release a soundtrack album for the NBC television event Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert. The album features the songs from the TV special written by Andrew Llyod Webber and Tim Rice and performed by John Legend, Sara Bareilles, Alice Cooper and other cast members. The soundtrack will be released on April 6, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert based on the 1971 Broadway musical is executive produced by Webber, Rice, Marc Platt, Craig Zadan & Neil Meron (Hairspray, Chicago) and revolves around the last week of Jesus’ life, told from the perspective of infamous betrayer Judas Iscariot.
