Stephen Warbeck has been hired to score the upcoming TNT event series Will. The show stars Laurie Davidson as the young William Shakespeare. Olivia DeJonge, Colm Meaney, Mattias Inwood, Jamie Campbell Bower and Ewen Bremner are co-starring. The drama opens with Shakespeare just arriving onto the punk-rock theater scene in 16th century London. Craig Pearce (The Great Gatsby, Moulin Rouge!, Romeo + Juliet) has written the pilot episode and is executive producing the project with Alison Owen (Saving Mr. Banks, Me Before you) and Debra Hayward (Les Miserables), Vince Gerardis (Flashforward), Howard Braunstein (The Client List), Louise Rosager and Shekhar Kapur (Elizabeth, The Four Feathers) who also directed the pilot.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (August 12, 2016)
Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the fantasy adventure Pete’s Dragon directed by David Lowery and starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Oona Laurence and Robert Redford. The film’s original music is composed by Daniel Hart (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Comet, Tumbleweed). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the songs from the movie by Bonnie “Prince” Billy, The Lumineers, Lindsey Stirling feat. Also opening wide is the animated comedy Sausage Party directed by Conrad Vernon & Greg Tiernan and starring Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd and Nick Kroll. Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin) and Christopher Lennertz (Ride Along, Horrible Bosses) have composed the film’s original score. Menken has also contributed the original song The Great Beyond (with lyrics by Glenn Slater and the screenwriters). Stephen Warbeck Scoring Nick Hamm’s ‘The Journey’
Stephen Warbeck has recently composed the music for the upcoming British drama The Journey. The film is directed by Nick Hamm (The Hole, Godsend) and stars Timothy Spall, Colm Meaney, John Hurt, Toby Stephens and Freddie Highmore. The movie centers on the events preceding the historic 2006 St. Andrews Agreement, which brought peace to Northern Ireland after years of violent strife between Unionist and Republican factions. Colin Bateman (Divorcing Jack, Murphy’s Law) has written the screenplay. Hamm is also producing the project with Piers Tempest (Robot Overlords, Grabbers), Mark Huffam (The Martian, Johnny English), Matt Jackson (End of Watch, Snitch) and Stuart Ford.
‘Arctic Heart’ Soundtrack Announced
A soundtrack album will be released for the French romantic comedy Arctic Heart (Le secret des banquises). The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love, Quills, Billy Elliott, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin). The soundtrack will be released digitally this coming Friday, June 17 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Arctic Heart is written and directed by Marie Madinier and stars Guillaume Canet, Charlotte Le Bon, Anne Le Ny, Patrick D’Assumçao and Damien Chapelle. The comedy follows a timid young grad student who is madly in love with her scientist boss and offers her body to his research.

Premiering tomorrow, May 30, is the History event mini-series Roots directed by Phillip Noyce, Thomas Carter, Mario Van Peebles and Bruce Beresford and starring Forest Whitaker, Anna Paquin, Laurence Fishburne, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Anika Noni Rose, Chad L. Coleman, Erica Tazel, Derek Luke, Malachi Kirby and Regé-Jean. The 4-parter’s original music is composed by Alex Heffes (The Last King of Scotland, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, 11.22.63). Philip Miller (Catch a Fire) has co-scored the Noyce-directed first episode. Questlove (Top Five) serves as the executive music producer on the project. Premiering tonight is the new ABC drama Quantico created by Joshua Safran and starring Priyanka Chopra, Jake McLaughlin, Aunjanue Ellis, Yasmine Al Massri, Johanna Braddy, Tate Ellington and Graham Rogers. The show’s original music is composed by Joel J. Richard (John Wick, The Andromeda Strain, Ravenswood). Stephen Warbeck to Score BBC’s ‘The Dresser’
Stephen Warbeck is scoring the upcoming BBC drama The Dresser. The film id directed by Richard Eyre (Iris, Notes on a Scandal) and stars Anthony Hopkins, Ian McKellen, Emily Watson, Sarah Lancashire, Edward Fox, Vanessa Kirby, Tom Brooke, John Ashton, Ian Conningham, Annalisa Rossi, Helen Bradbury, Carl Sanderson, Matthew Cottle and Martin Chamberlain. The movie is based on Ronald Harwood’s play and tells the story of one fateful night in a small regional theatre during World War II as a troupe of touring actors stage a production of Shakespeare’s King Lear.
‘Indian Summers’ Soundtrack Announced
Silva Screen Records will release a soundtrack album for PBS’ and Channel 4’s mini-series Indian Summers. The album features selections from the 10-parter’s original music written by Academy Award-winning composer Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love, Quills, Billy Elliot, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin).
