Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album for the British drama The Children Act. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love, Quills, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, Billy Elliot, Proof). Stephen Warbeck to Score Richard Eyre’s ‘King Lear’
Stephen Warbeck is reteaming with director Richard Eyre on the upcoming new film adaptation of King Lear. The TV movie based on the classic Shakepeare play is written and directed by Eyre (Notes on a Scandal, Iris) and stars Anthony Hopkins, Emma Thompson, Emily Watson, Florence Pugh, Christopher Eccleston, Jim Broadbent and Andrew Scott. The drama is set in a fictional version of present-day England and tells the story of the eponymous ruler, presiding over a totalitarian military dictatorship in England. Colin Callender (Wolf Hall, Howards End) is executive producing the project for Playground, alongside Sonia Friedman.
Stephen Warbeck to Score Adrian Noble’s ‘Mrs. Lowry and Son’
Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love, Billy Elliott, Quills, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin) is set to score the upcoming British drama Mrs. Lowry and Son. The film is directed by Adrian Noble (The Importance of Being Earnest, A Midsummer Night’s Dream) and stars Timothy Spall and Vanessa Redgrave. The movie examines the relationship between early 20th century British painter L.S. Lowry and his mother, Elizabeth. Martyn Hesford (Fantabulosa!) wrote the screenplay based on his stage play of the same name. Debbie Gray (Northern Soul) is producing the project.

Stephen Warbeck has recently recorded his score for the upcoming drama The Children Act. The film is directed by Richard Eyre (Notes on a Scandal, Iris) and stars Emma Thompson, Stanley Tucci and Fionn Whitehead. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Ian McEwan (Atonement, On Chesil Beach, The Good Son) and follows an eminent High Court judge in London who is forced to deal with the case of a brilliant boy who, three months from his 18th birthday and still legally a child, is refusing the blood transfusion that will save his life. McEwan also wrote the screenplay.

Premiering tomorrow, July 17, is the new AMC and Channel 4 original series Loaded developed by Jon Brown based on the Israeli comedy drama Mesudarim and starring Jim Howick, Samuel Anderson, Jonny Sweet, Nick Helm and Mary McCormack. The show’s original music is composed by Jack C. Arnold (Albatross, War Book). Loaded revolves around the lives of three tech entrepreneurs and friends who have just sold their start up videogame company for hundreds of millions of pounds. Premiering on Friday, July 21, is the Disney Channel original movie Descendants 2 directed by Kenny Ortega and starring Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart, China Anne McClain, Thomas Doherty, Dylan Playfair and Mitchell Hope. David Lawrence (American Pie, High School Musical) has composed the film’s original score. Walt Disney Records has will release a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the show this Friday. All Eyez on Me tells the story of Tupac Shakur and follows the rapper, actor, poet and activist from his early days in New York City until his untimely death at the age of 25. IM Global Music will release a soundtrack album for the drama The Journey. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love, Quills, Billy Elliott, Proof, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin). Also included is the end title song Are You Getting Through by Glen Hansard. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, May 5 and will be available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. The Journey is directed by Nick Hamm (The Hole) and stars Timothy Spall, Colm Meaney, John Hurt, Toby Stephens and Freddie Highmore. The movie centers on the events preceding the historic 2006 St. Andrews Agreement, which brought peace to Northern Ireland after years of violent strife between Unionist and Republican factions.

The movie centers on an American widow who finds unexpected love with a man living wild on Hampstead Heath when they take on the developers who want to destroy his home. Robert Festinger (In the Bedroom, Trust) wrote the screenplay. Robert Bernstein and Douglas Rae (Nowhere Boy, Becoming Jane, Black Death, The Water Horse) are producing the project for Ecosse Films.
‘The Time of Their Lives’ to Feature Score by Stephen Warbeck & Song by Tim Rice
Stephen Warbeck has signed on to score the upcoming British comedy The Time of Their Lives. The film is written and directed by Roger Goldby (The Waiting Room) and stars Joan Collins, Pauline Collins and Franco Nero. Academy Award-winning songwriter Tim Rice (The Lion King, Aladdin, Evita) will be providing an original song and also serves as an executive producer on the project. The movie follows a former Hollywood star who is on her way to crash her ex-husband’s funeral with a friend and becomes involved in a romantic triangle with a reclusive Italian painter. Sarah Sulick (Honeytrap) and Azim Bolkiah (Dark Places) are producing the Bright Pictures and Daryl Prince production.
