Four new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

cars-3-scoreExpected to top the weekend box office is the animated feature Cars 3 directed by Brian Fee and featuring the voices of Owen Wilson, Cristela Alonzo, Armie Hammer, Larry the Cable Guy, Bonnie Hunt, Cheech Marin, Jenifer Lewis, John Ratzenberger, Lloyd Sherr, Michael Wallis, Paul Dooley, Kerry Washington and Nathan Fillion. The film’s original score is composed by Randy Newman (Toy StoryMonsters, Inc.A Bug’s Life) and has been released by Walt Disney Records. Click here for the album details. all-eyez-on-meAlso opening wide is the biographical drama All Eyez on Me directed by Benny Boom and starring Demetrius Shipp Jr, Kat Graham, Lauren Cohan, Hill Harper, Jamal Woolard and Danai Gurira. John Paesano (DaredevilThe Maze RunnerThe DefendersMy All AmericanWhen the Game Stands Tall) ha composed the film’s original score. No soundtrack album has been announced. All Eyez on Me tells the story of Tupac Shakur and follows the rapper, actor, poet and activist from his early days in New York City until his untimely death at the age of 25. rough-nightAlso opening wide is the comedy Rough Night directed by Lucia Aniello and starring Scarlett Johansson, Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer, Zoë Kravitz and Paul W. Downs. The show’s original music is composed by Dominic Lewis (The Man in the High CastleFree BirdsMoney MonsterFist Fight). No word on a soundtrack release. Rough Night follows five best friends from college who reunite 10 years later for a wild bachelorette weekend in Miami. The comedy is being released by Sony Pictures. 47-meters-downThe final wide release this week is the horror thriller 47 Meters Down co-written and directed by Johannes Roberts and starring Mandy Moore, Claire Holt and Matthew Modine. Tomandandy (The Mothman PropheciesThe StrangersThe Rules of AttractionThe Hills Have Eyes) have composed the film’s original music. The movie follows two sisters vacationing in Mexico are who are trapped in a shark cage at the bottom of the ocean. The thriller is being released by Entertainment Studios. book-of-henryOpening semi-wide in over 500 theaters is the drama The Book of Henry directed by Colin Trevorrow and starring Naomi Watts, Jaeden Lieberher, Jacob Tremblay, Sarah Silverman, Lee Pace, Maddie Ziegler and Dean Norris. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Giacchino (UpLostRatatouilleStar TrekRogue One: A Star Wars Story). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the song Your Hand I Will Never Let It Go written by Ryan Miller & Thomas Bartlett and performed by Stevie Nicks. maudieOpening in limited release is the indie drama Maudie directed by Aisling Walsh and starring Sally Hawkins, Ethan Hawke, Zachary Bennett, Gabrielle Rose, Lawrence Barry, Greg Malone, Billy MacLellan, Kari Matchett, Marthe Bernard and David Feehan. Cowboy Junkies member Michael Timmins has composed the film’s original score. Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by Lisa Hannigan and Mary Margaret O’Hara. kill-switchAnother limited release this weekend is the sci-fi thriller Kill Switch directed by Tim Smit and starring Dan Stevens, Bérénice Marlohe, Tygo Gernandt, Mike Reus and Charity Wakefield. The film’s original music is composed by the Dutch composer/producer duo of Seven League Beats (aka Rob Peters & Dries Bijlsma). CTM Music & Management has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score last week. pray-for-rainAlso opening in limited release is the drama Pray for Rain directed by Alex Ranarivelo and starring Jane Seymour, Annabelle Stephenson, Paul Rodriguez, Nicholas Gonzalez, John Ducey and James Morrison. Jamie Christopherson (Born to RaceThe Crow: Wicked Player) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie follows a young New York journalist who returns to the idyllic Central California farming community where she was raised only to find it has been ravaged by drought and has become a place ruled by gangs, violent threats and greed. The drama is being released by Vertical Entertainment.
